Many of our students enjoy learning and many more enjoy video games. What if we could not only combine the two, but teach them how to create their own video games? At one point I did not see how video games could be used as an educational tool. After talking to several teachers and listening to a TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) talk about the power of gaming, I began to change my mind. Game design will allow student to use problem solving skills and and creativity in new and fun ways. Bloxels will take all these attributes and combine them in a fun collaborative environment where the students will teach themselves and become more independent learners.
