Black History Month Celebration
Funded Dec 18, 2024Our students started their Black history Month door decorations a few weeks ago, and are excited to learn more about Black authors, Black poets, Black educators, and Black scientists. When our students saw the decorations, art supplies, BHM flash cards and activities, they were beyond excited. Sometimes, starting these art projects can be daunting but with the materials from the project, students had a starting off point.
For our family night event, we are halfway there with planning. One of our stations will be a family photobooth, using the decorations and tableware supplied from the project. Thank you so much for your support!”

Funded Sep 18, 2024While not pictured in the photos that I took, this printer was an absolute game changer for the classroom and the classroom teacher. Now, students are able to in real time, print out their written work and easily critique and edit one another's digital work. Also, when there is a guest teacher, that teacher can easily print out emergency sub plans to keep class flowing. But most importantly, the teacher in this classroom was recently diagnosed with a neurological disease and has limited mobility. The printer is allowing her to spend her energy where is should be the most - with the kids.
We appreciate your donation tremendously.”

Funded Sep 18, 2024Thank you so much for your donation to our whiteboard table. This table went to our 5th grade classroom, which now has 29 students in there. Before the table arrived, one student was seated at the only non-whiteboard table desk in the room. This student came to us after the school year began, and was the one of two new students in the class. It was because of a decrease in funding from the state and federal dollars that we didn't have sufficient funds to provide a complete classroom set of furniture.
Now, every student is able to work at a desk that allows for creativity, hands on thinking, and FUN! Your support means so much.”

Funded Aug 14, 2024In my position at the school, I have the honor of working with nearly every single student. Many times during the day, I am helping students to work through challenging moments in their day. Often, this includes peer conflict as a large portion of our work in schools is teaching students how to communicate and work with one another. Our students learn the value of diversity and also know that they may see and interpret things differently from those around them. Most recently, I was working with a group of third graders who were saying unkind things about one another. I met with them in a restorative circle and the very first thing we did was reach for a sensory tool from the new sensory basket in my office. Thanks to your donation, the students had many sensory tools to choose from, and the ease and comfort of holding something in their hand made a hard conversation just a little bit easier. Thank you so much for seeing our kids, and seeing what they need. Your generosity is invaluable.”

Funded Jul 17, 2024When our students first saw the games, they were excited to help me unbox. The first group of students played the jelly bean balance game, and we bent the rules a little bit by adding in a prompt. Every time we placed a bean down, students were asked to share an interesting fact about themselves. This turned the game less into a challenge of who can win the game, and into an activity about getting to know one another. Towards the end of the lunch period, students were asking when they could come back for another turn with the new games we opened up. These types of experiences are the backbone of how we will build a school where students care for one another. thank you so much again for your thoughtfulness and generosity!”

Card Games for Crafty Learners
Funded May 30, 2024I hope this letter finds you in high spirits! I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation towards the board games for my elementary school classroom. Your support has had a profound impact on my students' learning experiences and their enthusiasm for collaborative play.
The first time we introduced the board games to the classroom, the energy was palpable. As soon as the students began playing, they were instantly engaged, leaning forward in their seats with eager anticipation. The excitement was contagious, and soon enough, other classrooms were peeking their heads in, curious about the source of the commotion and eager to join in on the fun.
Watching my students immerse themselves in the games was truly a joyous sight. Not only were they having a blast, but they were also developing essential social and cognitive skills, such as critical thinking, communication, and teamwork. Through friendly competition and cooperation, they were learning valuable lessons that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
Your generosity has not only provided my students with hours of entertainment but has also fostered a sense of community within our school. The board games have become a cherished resource that brings students together, regardless of grade or background, fostering friendships and creating lasting memories.
On behalf of myself, my students, and the entire school community, I want to extend my deepest thanks for your kindness and generosity. Your support has made a tangible difference in the lives of our students, and we are incredibly grateful for your investment in their education and well-being.”

Funded Dec 2, 2022When we initially put in the request for donations to fund playground equipment, we honestly had movement and outside recess in mind. Our playground has limited equipment and providing kickballs, soccer balls, and basketballs gives students additional opportunities to play and move during recess.
Just today, we had freshly pumped up some kickballs and it started to snow during lunch recess. We quickly shuffled all of the students into the gym and the kickballs were put to excellent use. I'm including a photo from today, but I wish you could see the delight on the students' faces when they realized there was enough playground equipment for all of them. Thank you so much for bringing this type of joy and movement to our learners.”

Funded Aug 23, 2022Our students are loving the new art supplies for their classroom. In this particular classroom, a new teacher and a new classroom, the new supplies that you helped to purchase are helping our students get started on the right foot!
When students started using the supplies for their Frida Kahlo inspired self portraits, they were excited with the brand new sharpened pencils and the "juicy" markers. We were gearing up to go to a play at Teatro Milagro, a Spanish-English collaborative theater group that donates free plays to Title I Schools such as our own. The actors from the play gave a pre-show demo in the classrooms and the teachers then had students use the new art supplies to express any type of art the students wanted to . I'll attach a few pictures of what they came up with!”

Funded Jun 10, 2022Thank you so much for your donation of books to our school. We have added these books to our classroom libraries, and even have given some to students who do not have easy access to books at home. With our new reading adoption, Wit and Wisdom, there is less time for students to read in class, so we are encouraging all of our learners to read at home. The books that you helped to purchase for us are engaging, the perfect level for our readers, and fun!
We recently had a Black Family Night and it was so fulfilling to see families asking questions about reading and also taking a few of the books home to read with their children. Thank you so much!!”

Zooming Down the Columbia River Gorge!
Funded Oct 5, 2009Thank you all so much for donating to our field trip. Unfortunately, we did not received the rock hammers until after we went down the Columbia Gorge but rest assured that future students in this class will benefit from them! We have a courtyard inside of our school so the students were at least able to open up the packages and learn how to use the chipping hammers.
The students and I want to say a special thank you to the donor who came to our classroom as a geology specialist. Because my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds, the more professionals they encounter in their lives, the better. We really learned a lot and the kids are loving the thunder eggs you donated to our school.
I mentioned this before, but these students are the only students in the school who have gone on an academic field trip this year. Next year when we go on our trip down the Gorge, we will have the tools we need to chip chip chip away! Thank you so much for donating to public education. This school will benefit from your donations for a long time.”

Ms. Seidel
