Students will be using the screen-printing machines and accompanying supplies to create stencils and t-shirts, as well as a variety of other materials (posters, labels, decals) they would like to create for themselves and our student body. Student proposals for design ideas will be submitted from art classes, art club and other members of the student body. The finished product will allow them to practice using stencils and screen printing machines, as well as experience the satisfaction of seeing an idea go from a sketch on a piece of paper to a t-shirt that everyone at school is wearing. Students will see their own ideas come to life and make something tangible for a project that will enrich their school experience. This project would significantly help my students’ learn about the entire process of screen printing from start to finish-sketching, stencil, printing, working with a "client", marketing and more. They would see the process connect to a final product, relevant to themselves and impacting the school for better. Students can practice using design principles and experience careers related to it: graphic design, muralists, and printmaking. In the end, we want our Art students to be able to engage the entire student population in the Visual Arts and what better way than by producing wearable works of Art!
