Stuffing Our Classroom with Positive Incentives!
Funded Aug 9, 2022You have transformed our classroom! Thanks to you and your donations, our stuffed animals have really brought positivity into our classroom. Students receive the stuffed animals when they are doing great things during their learning times. For instance, showing kindness, participating, being an excellent role model to their peers, or just achieving success when it might not come easy. It truly has become a wonderful incentive.
What I didn't realize, though, was that the stuffed animals would also serve as a comfort buddy. We have added all of our stuffed animals to our peace corner and it has been so helpful to calm students who have anxiety issues or who just need a moment of mindfulness. They have also been great for students to use as reading buddies.
Our classroom is forever grateful for the wonderful donors for this who helped us fund our project. Thank you for your kindness and support.”

Funded Aug 19, 2021There are truly no words that can really show my gratitude and appreciation for your kind donations. I was beyond speechless when I found out that this project was funded. You have changed the way I am able to teach my first graders.
Thanks to you, I was able to get decodable books into the hands of my students so that I can properly educate them using the Science of Reading research. Finally my students can use their phonic skills to decode unknown words instead of reading leveled text that do not match what we are learning nor are they on their level.
My students absolutely love these books and beg for more when I use them in small groups. Being able to provide my students with these books means the world to mean and I wouldn't have been able to do it without your kindness and generosity. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Funded Jul 12, 2021We are beyond grateful for your generous donation. The students absolutely love being able to have fresh, clean whiteboards, dry erase markers, and erasers at their fingertips. After using the same whiteboards for over a decade, it is so amazing to provide new and improved white boards to help them with their learning.
Because of your donation, my students feel extremely special and lucky to be able to have these new supplies. Furthermore, my students ASK to use the whiteboards to practice their math. They want to show their learning and teach other students using their whiteboards.
Your donation has brought life back into the classroom. Your donation has got the kids excited to show their learning. And finally, your donation has taught my students how to use these materials to help their peers with their learning. This pandemic has definitely taken a lot away from our first graders, but because of your generous donation my students are able to learn and grow using these updated materials.”

Funded Aug 11, 2020This year of great uncertainty we can rest assured that our children will have similar resources as any other year because of you! Every year I love filling our classroom with fun and engaging material from Scholastic News. I was so sad to think that this year would look differently because of our online platform. Instead, I turned to the wonderful donors on DonorsChoose and was so lucky to have sponsors that made this dream a reality.
The magazine articles provide great learning experiences for our 6 and 7-year-olds. This year, thanks to your kindness and generosity, we are able to use these magazines to educate our youth virtually.
It is because of people like you, we are able to continue our learning as usual. During this holiday season, we are so very grateful for people like you. My students are so amazed by your kindness and we hope to pay it forward to others.”

Funded May 4, 2020I wanted to thank you personally for your donation. Your donation has truly touched not only this year's class but so many future classes that walk into my classroom in need of a book that is on their level. I have so many students who are second language learners and I couldn't offer them enough of a selection but because of you, I will be able to provide them with a wide variety of nonfiction and fiction books. Thank you isn't enough. Please take a look at my video thank you here: https://www.loom.com/share/eee255fbfcc34761b661588a0ace7719.”

Save our Ears! Headphones to the Rescue!
Funded Feb 3, 2020To say these headphones have been a lifesaver is an understatement. Prior to having these headphones, students would complain about their cheap earbuds because they hurt their ears. Furthermore, they were constantly trying to locate their headphones because they were always misplacing them. Better yet, the ones that they brought in didn't work after just a few weeks and parents don't always have the money to keep replacing them. So we were left with children unable to complete their intervention properly or didn't have a chance to practice their reading and math skills on our apps. Thanks to you, students now can easily access headphones with microphones.
All of our students have an opportunity to use a reading and math app which helps them use the skills we are working on in the first-grade classroom. One of the skills we were on is scooping our phrases to become a more fluent reading. This program models how to properly scoop the phrase while also encouraging them to try it for themselves. This is why the microphone is so important. Then I am able to access the recordings to see how the children performed. I can then continue to work on it if need be.
Not only are my struggling students benefiting from the headphones, so are my higher-level students. A few of my students are ready for second-grade material and while I can't always be meeting with them in a small group, these online programs help provide them with the skills to keep them motivated. If it weren't for the headphones, I would not be able to provide this opportunity to my students.
The students and I are beyond grateful for your generous contribution. As you can see, your generous donation has impacted the lives of so many students. So thankful for donors like you!! Be well!”

Writing for Success
Funded Feb 15, 2019My students and I are forever thankful for our generous donors. We truly couldn't have made this project a possibility without your kindness and helping hand. You have made a difference in 31 students' lives, and for that I am eternally grateful!
When the notebooks arrived my students were in awe. I remember hearing my one student say, "People we don't know bought us these note books, Mrs. Aria?" It was such a great teaching moment. Through your example, you not only bought these students books that we may not otherwise be able to afford, but you also showed my students the importance of giving selflessly without anything in return.
Our notebooks have already been put to good use. Thanks to your donation, my students finally are able to use notebooks that are more suitable for their needs. They are able to visually see lines that are designated for upper and lower case letters so I've already seen a drastic improvement in their writing.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your dedication to our schools. We couldn't possibly do it without amazing people like you! We will be sure to pay it forward!”

Flexibility Seating Needed to Promote Choice, Comfort, & Health
Funded Apr 5, 2018As educators we know that all students learn differently. Just like I differentiate the material I provide my students, it's important to provide a variety of seating options to my students. Because of my thoughtful donors, I am able to provide flexible seating options that I would not otherwise be able to provide. Not only do our wobble chairs empower my students with choice to control how they want to learn, they also provide health benefits as well. Some students need to move while learning to help with blood flow to the brain. Research has even shown that physical activity is linked to higher achievement so wobble chairs are a welcomed option. Flexible seating is also ideal for my students that need sensory input. And lastly, I love wobble chairs because they are fun. My students are still young and they truly enjoy these so why not include them in my classroom.
You should have seen my students' eyes light up when we opened the box of wobble chairs. They were so excited to have another tool in the classroom. Learning became fun for them and they were truly appreciative. The wobble chairs were definitely the highlight of our year. They loved them even up until the last day. We worked on strategies on how to share because often times kids would want to use them often.
Now this group is on to second grade. I am packing up my classroom and I'm looking forward to investigating some new classroom ideas for the next batch of students. I hope to post another project very soon to include obtaining more technology. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Donors Choose for making all of this possible and to the wonderful donors who donate to make the lives of our students brighter.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Aria
