  • Laminator Kit

    Funded Aug 11, 2019

Thank you for the gift of the laminator machine. It has made learning materials last a long time by laminating them. I constantly use this machine as I continue to provide quality learning materials for my students!

Your generosity is very much appreciated as it truly takes a village to help our students learn each day! We strive to do our best each day, and your contribution to our learning environment definitely enhance this goal.

"If we stop caring for each other, we will lose our humanity!"”

  • A Whole New World

    Funded Aug 8, 2018

As a classroom teacher, anytime I am able to improve the setting and/or programming for my students, I truly feel blessed. To have the important resources to educate young learners is part and parcel of our daily lives.

Thank you for your kind donation. The bookcase and bins helped use be more organized as we we peruse our books everyday. They provide us with great opportunity to explore the world beyond our reach through reading our well loved books.

We hope to expand this library of books as we move on to more years of learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Book Ends

    Funded Nov 18, 2017

In any given day, a great classroom needs resources to be able to create a safe, productive, successful, and student oriented learning environment. In the same token, in any given day, a teacher might be asked to move from classroom to classroom, grade to grade, and as such, organization is the key to smooth transitions,

The book shelves are essential to the classroom. They "housed" our dearly beloved books and other learning resources when appropriate.

Thank you for funding our classroom needs. Your generosity feeds our spirits!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Toon Comics

    Funded Jan 10, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom project. The Toon Comics was a welcome set of new Reading materials for our kids. They were excited to look and read each book. The fabulous colors and words on each page of these books provided our students mesmerizing moments of reading and learning time!

As an educator, I welcome any chance to introduce my students to all quality reading materials of different kinds and from different sources. The Cartoon motifs of these books appealed to both my reluctant, emerging, and highly skilled readers. It was definitely a much welcomed addition to our growing collection of library books!

Thank you again for your support of our project. Please know that your kind donation will forever be appreciated by me and my current and future students!”

    Mrs. Thomas

  • To Each Its Own

    Funded Jan 22, 2017

Thank you for the generous donation to our classroom project. The book shelves helped our classroom be more organized saving us valuable time in our everyday learning life. A classroom that is well organized in terms of supplies and resources provide more time to pursue more meaningful learning opportunities for every student in our classroom. Instead of always purging through our plastic bins and falling apart boxes of books, now, we are able to see them and use them effectively.

Every teacher's dream is to have an appealing and highly organized classroom resources, furnitures, and the likes. After all, the classroom, for most of us, is our second home. Anytime we can have the appropriate furnitures and related items, we get closer to our dream of having the "ideal place" to learn and share memories.

Thank you again for your generous support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Mobile Books

    Funded Jan 14, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom project. Quality bookshelves are expensive to purchase. The cheap ones don't last as long as the one we requested. The students were excited to see and use all the books placed in this mobile book cart. It was small enough to move around our classroom, yet, big enough to contain the books that we use a lot in our everyday learning time.

Thank you again for your help in making this project a reality! This is the beginning of transforming our library nook to make it more appealing, organized, and long lasting for our current and future students to enjoy. I believe strongly in the power of books and learning to read and enjoy the acquisition of such vital skill/s in our students' lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Feb 20, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom project. The individual headphone set provided us with valuable time and learning opportunities. Instead of spending our time "detangling" our old headphones and constantly checking and rechecking their volume control mechanism, we were able to just proceed to our individual table spots with our chrome books to work on our online Reading tasks. The quality of these headphones outperformed our old ones. We had to say goodbye to our old headphones and with much excitement, welcome the new ones!

Thank you again for your help in seeing this project to fruition!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Partitions, Repetititons

    Funded Jan 29, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom project. The partitions provided my students valuable privacy during tests, individual work, and major assessments at the end of unit/s lesson/s in Math., Writing, and Language Arts. They also helped my students focus during their individual online reading time.

The wipe out plastic sleeves saved us time and paper/s in completing our daily learning tasks in Math. and Language Arts. Instead of wasting a lot of papers, this resource enabled us to conserve as I only have to make a few copies of whatever lesson/s and/or tasks/s needed for a given skill sets in Math. and Language Arts.

Thank you again for these valuable resources in our classroom!”

  • A Corner of Lifetime Dreamers

    Funded Nov 30, 2016

When I venture onto my first project, I envisioned a quiet place for our students to enjoy reading their books. I envisioned a comfortable place where they can sit, relax, and devour the pages of their beloved books. This is exactly how and what our brand new reading nook provides for our students.

More than that, 'though, our reading nook also serves as a "calm down" area where students having behavior issues can go and collect their thoughts, breathe, and in essence, "decompress" before joining our class activity and/or lesson for the moment. The nook has become a safe nook. This is a big plus of this project. We do not need to send our students outside of our classroom to find time to settle down. They know that a safe and quiet place is nearby for them to close their eyes, count to whatever number, or write down their emotions and/or feelings at that time.

Since this nook was my first venture to reach out to others via the donorchoose website, our class way beyond excited to see this nook being built/assemble before their very own eyes. Questions such as: "What is this?" "Who gave this to us" Why"? "What did we do? What can we do?" "Can we use it now?" echoed in our classroom. Giggles and happy smiles and loud cheers followed such valid questions from our little ones. In the end, after all is said and done, our room sits in silence to admire our new addition.

Thank you from all of us. I personally love this quote: "Nothing the heart gives away is gone. It is kept in the hearts of others." So, please know that your generosity is kept in our hearts now and years to come.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Thomas”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

The 2017-2018 school year brought me to a new classroom with a new group of students and a new grade to teach! I am in the same building with great students, staff, and parents. My Kindergarten students live in this high poverty urban setting. Yet, they are not defined nor limited by this economic setting. They are children with great smiles and great hearts. They are eager learners of all skills and abilities. They are funny and silly at times. But at the very core of our daily school life is the desire to learn everything that our school has to offer. We are a family of learners embracing the idea that the future is now! With our limited tangible resources come the challenge of creating a learning environment that nurture and sustain the curious minds and inquisitive spirits of these Kindergarten students. As their teacher, I wish to create a classroom that befits such group of students.
