Through using TIME For Kids magazine weekly in the classroom, my students will have the ability to read high-interest science, math, and current event articles. I enjoy having the children gather together to read and discuss the articles and then share their opinions regarding the topics. This format allows children the opportunity to agree or respectfully disagree with each other. They also practice piggybacking off of each other's ideas and effective listening skills. After we read the four-page magazine in school, students take them home to share with their families. This provided them the opportunity to build fluency by rereading high-interest topics while spending time with family members.
