Stop and Smell the Roses!
Funded Jul 5, 2023Thank you so much for your generous support of our student garden project. Thanks to your donation, we've been able to create a beautiful garden that has made a big impact on our students and school.
The garden is a hands-on learning space where students can explore nature, learn about plants and sustainability, and practice valuable skills like teamwork and responsibility. It's also sparked conversations about healthy eating and the environment, inspiring students to make better choices both in and out of school.
Your donation has helped create a space where students can grow and learn in ways that go beyond the classroom. We are so grateful for your support in bringing this project to life.
Thank you again for making a difference in our school community!”

Funded Dec 23, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation of menstruation products to our school library. Your support has made a difference in the lives of our students.
As you know, periods can happen at any time and in any place, often catching students off guard. Many of students face challenges in accessing basic menstruation products, which can affect their ability to focus in class or even attend school. With your donation, we've been able to provide these products for free, ensuring that students don't have to worry about missing school or feeling uncomfortable during their period.
The products are available in our school library, creating a safe, private space for students to get what they need when they need it.
Your generosity has not only provided essential items, but it has also shown our students that they are valued and supported. We are so grateful for your kindness and the positive impact you've made in our school community.
Thank you again for your support!”

Funded Feb 3, 2023Thank you so very much for supporting our project "Pleasing Puzzles". Our school year is coming to an end and the puzzles have been a great way for students to distract themselves and relax from the pressure of the high stakes testing. Everyday the puzzles have been out there have been a stream of kids coming in to add one, two, and sometimes dozens of pieces to the puzzle.
The students have all been receptive and excited to work together and chat just enjoying a few minutes of fun. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to see them taking a few minutes to breathe and do something just for themselves that they enjoy.”

Baby It's Cold Outside!
Funded Dec 8, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donation. We sometimes forget how the smallest of kindnesses can make such a huge impact. The weather here has been sporadic, some days unseasonably warm and others much, much colder. There are so many of our students who lack the warm clothes necessary to keep them warm during their commutes to school and home. Being cold really makes learning difficult. It is hard to concentrate when you are trying not to shiver or your fingers and ears are numb.
When I first told the students that there were hats, gloves, and scarves available for free many were hesitant. The idea of taking 'handouts' can hurt their pride. But I was able to frame it in a way that it was a gift and everyone deserves to be warm. All it took was for one student to accept and then I was swarmed.
Thank you again for caring about our students health and well being.”

Cricut Craze
Funded Jun 9, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations that allowed THHS to get a cricut machine with various paper. This tool has been a game changer for the library. We have been able to design fun and interactive displays. Students have created silk screen projects to advertise their clubs, and fun arts projects to decorate their lockers and notebooks. This has added a bit of fun, creativity, and color to they students day. We have just gotten started with the possibilities and can't wait to see what else we can do.”

Funded Sep 16, 2020Thank you so much for funding the Remote Learning Project. In our wildest imagings of March 2020 when NYC closed schools did we ever expect schools to be remained shuttered for long. I was sure we would only be close for a week or two while schools were deep cleaned and disinfected.
As a NYC school librarian I was not prepared to work a year from home. With this donation I was able to make the most of the transition. The headset and document camera made creating lessons, communicating with teachers and students, and overall teaching so much easier.
Thank you for supporting teachers in these very difficult times.”

Funded Mar 8, 2019Thank you very much for all of your generous donations in supporting our 'Less Stress' project. This time of year with students preparing for exams and waiting on college acceptances can be very stressful. The addition of these coloring sheets to the library has given the students an opportunity to sit back, relax, and be a bit creative for a few minutes and give their minds a bit of a rest.
I enjoy watching the students laugh and joke about the picture they are helping create. It is also great to see their reaction when they leave for class and return to see the progress that their class mates have made.
Thank you for giving the students the opportunity to take a break from their hectic schedule and just be kids for a few minutes each day.”
