Increasing Environmental Awareness and Literacy Through Scientific Inquiry

Funded Feb 9, 2024

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you so very much for your very generous donation made to the students of my district. You have helped provide the tools they will need to put science learning into action - the BEST way science is learned. The materials will be cared for and stored to be used into the future.

My students were as incredulous as I was when we learned that we would be receiving these gifts. While I had some simple kits I purchased on amazon that are intended to test pool and fish tank water, I can continue to grow my water-quality testing ability due to your generosity. You have helped restore some enthusiasm and appreciation in the classroom whilst reducing apathy and boredom. I truly thank you.

My goal was to spend the colder months learning about aquatic biomes and food webs within the biomes, as well as water pollution, with a focus on plastics. Now that the weather has FINALLY turned warmer, and the standardized testing is wrapping up, I am going to take my students to a local pond to utilize the testing material to analyze the water quality of a local freshwater resource. We are so excited to be able to generate real-world data for our local environmental stewards. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

With gratitude,

Mrs. S.
