  • Creating Comfort in the Classroom

    Funded Aug 22, 2023

Thank you so much again for your generous donations to my classroom. The items you've contributed to have made such a difference for my students, especially as students' needs continue to change each year.

Students have been utilizing the fidget objects on a daily basis in order to keep them focused in class. This is the first year in our school that students are required to lock their cell phones into magnetic pouches, so the fidgets have been extra helpful in giving these teenagers, who are very used to having a phone in their hands at all times, something to distract them from wanting that.

For additional comfort in the class, students have been using the giant coloring page when they need a quick brain break from their work, using the clip boards if they need to get up and move while completing their work, and are very comforted by always having tissues available in the room when needed and cups to get water from the fountain to stay hydrated if they don't have their own bottle.

Academically, the highlighters, pens, and pencils have helped students with their annotation skills as well as avoiding the anxiety of forgetting or losing their own. The poster paper has been used for collaborative projects and the card stock has been used for labeling stations and reusable anchor chart terms.

Your donations have made my classroom a better place for my students this year, and I could not be more grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fallon

  • Back to School Classroom Supplies

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you all so much for your generous contribution to my classroom this year. Your generous donations allow my students to see a greater value in their learning space due to the ample amount of supplies and resources available to them through your thoughtful donations.

Students are reading, writing, thinking, mapping, drawing, and learning using the materials you helped to make available to them. These materials beautify the classroom space, minimize disruptions to students' learning, and allow for more varied mastery tasks.

Thank you again for helping create more positive learning experiences!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fallon

  • Building Personal Libraries for High School Students

    Funded Oct 21, 2021

I can't begin to thank you enough for your generous donations to the literacy of our youth. It means so much to me, and to my students, that they're able to have a book that they can call their own and read for as long or as many times as they want.

Students have expressed, since the start of this school year, that many of them no longer enjoy reading in the same way they did before the isolation of the pandemic. To see the excitement in their faces as they saw the boxes arrive with the books, the eagerness as they ask if their books were in the boxes, and the way they gripped the books when they received them, I could see that love begin to reignite.

Since students received their books only a week ago, some have come in to show me the notes they've been taking for their own pleasure while reading their novel. Others are already eager to read the next book in the series or other books by the same author. Some others are setting aside time to come and talk through what they're reading because of how much they want to discuss the themes and content of their stories.

No one knows how far the influence of these books may go, but I'm excited to see where these reading journeys take the youth of our community. Thank you all so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fallon

  • Finding Our Way Through Remote Learning

    Funded Aug 31, 2020

I can't begin to thank you all enough for your generous donations this year. Now, more than ever, my students need access to educational resources that will support them through this difficult time of learning from home.

We gave these items out during a "drive-by" pick up when we gave students their schedules for the year. The students, along with their parents, were so pleasantly surprised to receive the care package of learning materials along with their schedules. It was so nice to see their eyes light up when we handed it to them.

Students have been able to use the blue light glasses to protect their eyes throughout their school day to avoid the strain on their eyes from the screen, keep themselves organized by writing out reminders, and use all of the other materials to support their learning.”

  • Some Supplies for Super Smart Students!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude for your generous donations to my classroom. The impact on my students' learning has been evident, but what has been even more evident is the impact these items have had on student's academic habits, professional skills, and intellectual self-worth.

In an under-funded urban school district, where even basic school supplies are few and far between for students, unless they are paid for out of the teacher's own pocket, these items have allowed my students to feel that their learning, intelligence, and achievement is valuable.

Students have been able to collaborate on ideas with one another using the large post-its, create charts and informational visuals using the easel paper, and keep reference sheets and excellent work organized and protected using the clear protector sheets in their binders. Classes have writing utensil cups with multi-colored pens and highlighters readily available at their groups for peer editing and focused note-taking and English language learners are able to use color-coded flashcards to practice social and academic vocabulary.

The list could go on and on with ways your donation, whether big or small, has made a difference for my students inside and outside of the classroom, but please know that your contribution has made a positive impact on many lives. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

  • College and Career Ready Kids!

    Funded Aug 10, 2018

I want to express my most sincere gratitude to you for your generosity in donating to my classroom. Your contribution has made a truly significant impact on my classroom.

My students have felt, some of them for the first time, that they are working in, what they call, a "convenient classroom." Because of you, they have the tools that can make learning hands-on and simple while challenging their thinking. They have already shown significant strides in taking meaningful notes, creating visual presentations, and collaborating with each other to present what they've created.

I am so thankful that my students have people like you to look up to; people that are willing to take the extra that they have to help out those who are not as fortunate reach new heights in their education.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fallon

  • Help Wanted for Hands-On High School Freshmen!

    Funded Aug 30, 2017

I would like to thank you so much for your generous donation to my ninth grade English classroom. While the supplies you donated may seem small and insignificant, they make a huge impact on my classroom on a daily basis. For my students to walk into the room and not have to feel anxious because they lost the only pencil they have, or that their talents cannot be recognized in class because there are no art supplies for class projects, has been erased by your generosity. I hope you have a chance to look at a couple of the photos that show just a small amount of the work students have been doing with your donated materials. Without you, so much of the collaboration and creativity in my classroom would not be possible. I hope to be able to share more snapshots with you throughout the year of the impact these supplies have made for my students. I thank you with all of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fallon

As our school moves towards a project-based learning approach, I want to familiarize my 9th grade students with creating products that display their learning and expertise. Our school has basic materials available for this, but the materials do not have the quality or come in the quantity that the students desire. With these supplies, my students will not only be able to showcase the things they've learned, but they will have the opportunity for creativity in the high school classroom. Many students thrive in environments where they can be hands-on. By having these supplies readily available, there will more chances for kinesthetic learning on a daily basis.
