Pre-K Cooking In The Classroom
Funded Nov 6, 2024I hope this letter finds you well! I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contributions to my PreK cooking in the classroom project. Thanks to your support, my students have been able to engage in hands-on cooking experiences that they absolutely love, enriching their learning in ways I couldn't have anticipated.
This past semester, we have enjoyed making mini pizzas, delicious soups, treats, and cookies, along with non-food-related activities using measuring tools, like creating cornstarch oobleck and mixing playdough. These experiences have been instrumental in teaching my students not only the basics of cooking but also vital kitchen safety skills. One of the highlights was when we introduced the toaster oven; the students were captivated as they watched the cheese melt, which sparked exciting discussions about food transformations and how certain ingredients react when heated. It was a joy to see their eyes light up with curiosity as they connected these culinary experiences to broader scientific concepts.
As we look forward to spring, we are excited about our upcoming project where we will make salsa and salads from our very own campus garden. This will give the students an incredible opportunity to explore fresh ingredients and learn about nutrition firsthand. Additionally, our next steps will explore cooking as a chemical reaction, allowing us to investigate other safe science experiments.
Your support has made all of this possible, and I cannot thank you enough for your generosity. The impact you have had on these young learners goes beyond just cooking; you are nurturing their love for science, creativity, and exploration in the kitchen. Thank you again for your kindness and support; it truly makes a difference!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kaiwi
