Becoming Culturally Responsive
Funded Jun 17, 2020I am so pleased to announce that my project has been fully funded. This wouldn’t have been possible without your generous contributions. Your donations are going to make a big difference in my classroom. With this year coming to such an abrupt end with being physically in the classroom, I am more eager than ever to prepare for the next school year with these materials that I know my new students are going to love. Most importantly, my students will be able to engage in novels that they can relate to and make connections with. Again, thank you SO much for contributing to my project! It is much appreciated.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gualtieri
The Road to Reading
Funded Feb 9, 2017Words cannot begin to describe how thankful we are for our new books! Our students were so grateful when we announced that our project was funded and that we would be receiving new books for our classroom library. Once my co teacher and I put the books in the library, students couldn't wait to go and browse through them.
Our students participate in a "25 Book Campaign", where they have to read 25 books throughout the school year and submit book reports about them. Thanks to you, our donors, the majority of our students' book reports significantly increased. We are confident that 80-90% of our students are going to hit the 25 mark by the end of the school year.
The books we received were all types of genres. Students expanded their horizons by reading fiction, non-fiction, coming-of-age, memoirs, fantasy, historical fiction, and so much more. By reading different genres, it helped students read different points of view, figurative language, descriptive language, and series of books. Most of our students thoroughly enjoyed the Percy Jackson series as well as the Harry Potter series.
We are truly grateful and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity. Thanks to you, our students were able to find their niche from having the opportunity to read so many different types of books.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Gualtieri
