  • Comfortable Class Pantry for Essential Needs

    Funded Sep 28, 2024

Thank you so much for helping to support this very important project! I work very hard to make sure my classroom is a safe space for my students, and that often reaches out beyond the lesson in the classroom.

I want to make sure my students know they can come to me if they need feminine products, or hair ties, or wipes if they spill food on their uniform shirt (a daily occurrence!) I want my students to know they can come to me if they need a band-aid, or lens wipes. Basically, I want them to know that I am a place of comfort for them.

But all these things add up, and this project has saved me money and helped to make sure my students are comfortable. For that, I can't thank you enough.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Parker

  • Book 'Em! Restocking a Diverse & Current Bookshelf

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you so much for contributing to this important project! As an ELA teacher and a book lover, I know it's so important to stock my in class library with current and diverse. books. My school population is beautifully diverse, which makes it even more important that my students are able to see themselves and their stories reflected in the books they read. I also need to make sure that I have the popular and new titles in stock. Your donation to my project helped to make this happen and I can't thank you enough.”

  • Print Positivity & Possibility: In-Class Printer for Extra Help

    Funded Sep 13, 2024

Thank you so much for helping to fund this project! There are so many times throughout the school day where you need to print on demand - a graphic organizer for a student who needs more help with summarizing, an assignment for a student that needs to be printed for another class, a scaffold for vocabulary and translation for our English Language Learners, a last minute worksheet which the students need more copies of. Having a printer in the classroom makes an enormous difference, and you helped to make it happen.

    Thank you so much!”

  • Fuel the Mind, Body & Motivation

    Funded Aug 24, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation to my project. When I create a project such as this one, I am always aware that some people may be confused as to how candy, stickers and snacks factor into education. However, anyone who has taught a class can testify that these are incredibly valuable assets in the classroom.

Teaching students to become the best versions of themselves academically requires finding different avenues of motivation. Praise is incredibly important, of course. High grades will do wonders for the self esteem. But a tangible item to achieve in the moment - and for a 12 year old, there is little more exciting than candy or chips, can help a student want to do more and to do better.

On the other hand, there are often students who come in to school hungry and often leave hungry as well. Having a snack for them in the moment or take home means a lot.

Thank you again for helping donate to this project. As my students watched me stock the closet with these items, I could see my own excitement mirrored in their eyes.

Thank you for continuing to support public education. It means the world.”

  • In a World...Book Trailers to Engage Readers

    Funded Jan 22, 2024

Thank you so much for helping to fund this project. As an ELA teacher, projects which help supply books for my classroom are nearest and dearest to my heart. I truly believe readers are made with access to an array of diverse and current texts, and this is always a challenge every year. My students were so excited to borrow some of these books after our Book Trailer activity, and it was unfortunate that I didn't have all of them. Your help with this project solved that problem. Thank you so much.”

  • Chart Paper for Celebrating Collaboration

    Funded Dec 29, 2023

Thank you so much for your kind donation for this project. One of the most important things in the ELA classroom is for students to not only work collaboratively, but to be able to share their work with others so it can be celebrated.

Having chart paper available for students to work together and have their work showcased in the classroom has been a game changer. Without this project, I would be limited to having students work in their notebooks or on looseleaf, which wouldn't be the same.

    Thank you so much again.”

  • Hot off the Press: By Request New Book Restock

    Funded Oct 10, 2023

Thank you so much for your support for this project and for making it come to life. Anyone who knows me knows that reading is something I hold incredibly dear - in fact, I had to put my book down to write this letter!

I became an ELA teacher in large part because I wanted to transfer this love of reading from myself to others. I take no greater joy than hearing "You made me love reading" from my students, and a large part of that is because I am able to keep my classroom stocked with the newest titles, and have diverse options for my students who don't always seem themselves reflected in books.

Every project funded here means a lot to me, but book projects mean the most. Again, I can't think you enough for your support.”

  • Snack Attack Part II: The Great Restock

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to this very important project. In my 9th year as a teacher, I have seen a lot at my school. Every day I see my students come in - some excited to learn, some unsure how they can learn, and many don't know all that they are capable of. I. have seen students come in hungry, students leave not sure where their next meals will come from.

Projects like this - which may seem at times disconnected from education - are actually often fundamentally tied to how a student learns.

Giving a student a simple reward like Jolly Ranchers or Fruit Snacks motivates them. Being able to provide snacks to take home helps them feed their bodies and make them excited to come to school.

Thank you for your help with this project. It means the world.”

  • Hear Me Out: Class Headphones

    Funded Jun 15, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to this project, which has already been so useful in our classroom. We recently switched to a new curriculum which often provides students with videos to help them with additional insight on difficult topics, and even allows them to have the text read to them for easier comprehension.

We have also discussed the power of audiobooks, so it's been great to have them try it out.

Without these newly provided headphones, students were unable to use any of these features in the classroom. Now, because of you, they can.

    I can't thank you enough.”

My school is a Title I School, which means it is high poverty and more than 3/4 of my students qualify for free lunch. These students are amazing, and deserve to have only the best provided to them. I do my very best to support them every single day. I have completely rebuilt my in-class library to offer over 1,000 books. I am constantly refreshing my library and listening to the request and needs of my students. Additionally, many of my students do not have the necessary supplies for school. I am always working to be fully stocked on everything they need. Donors Choose has been amazing with regards to supporting me, and to supporting my students. I thank anyone for reading this, and/or for donating to support my classroom.
