  • Learning Math and Alliteration in Preschool!

    Funded Apr 7, 2019

It is with a very grateful heart that i write these words to you! Your generous donation means a great deal to our students. You see, as we prepare for the last marking period, we are working diligently with our students to ensure that they are prepared for Kindergarten. The materials you provided our classroom with are helping to learn a variety of necessary preschool skills. For instance, the math boards have helped our students learn one to one correspondence, addition skills, writing numbers and much more! The magnet pictures and boards are assisting students in learning alliteration, writing and rhyming. We are so fortunate to have these materials and are immensely grateful for your support!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Kokoszka”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. K.

  • A Cozy Space To Enjoy Books By Our Favorite Author!

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

We are forever grateful for your generosity and contribution towards a project that is very dear to our hearts. We have been reading Mo Willems books for years and my students cannot get enough of his wonderful stories. They were thrilled when i told them how some amazing friends with big hearts made a wonderful contribution to our classroom! We have been having SO MUCH FUN reading these books! My students are constantly asking for more! They are also loving their new cozy couch to enjoy their favorite books in. I love seeing the smile on all of their faces as they partake in the joys of reading. It warms my heart instilling a love of books this early on in their lives and hope that they carry this love of reading forever. Thank you for touching the lives of our little ones. You've certainly touched my heart and for that, i am immensely grateful!”

  • A Dedicated Space For Developing Fine Motor Skills!

    Funded Oct 30, 2018

I cannot express enough how much your generous donations have helped my classroom this year! We needed a designated space to work on fine motor skills and your donation provided just that for our students. Our age group really needs to strengthen and develop the small muscles in their hands in order to be able to properly hold a writing utensil and eventually commence writing. The table and chairs you provided our classroom have become a place where our students congregate to develop such skills.

While my intent was to solely work on fine motor skills in our new designated area, it has also become an area where we share wonderful conversations while using rich vocabulary. Students are truly enjoying this new space in our classroom and their fine motors skills are thriving as a result!”

  • It's OK To Feel What You Feel!

    Funded Sep 18, 2018

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for all the generous donations towards our project. It is incredibly important to give our young learners the tools to cope with their feelings. This is especially important with our age group of learners. The materials provided via this project will aid in teaching them important vocabulary about how they are feeling and the many ways they can cope. The books teach important messages about kindness and keeping safe. The moods and emotions mirrors are a wonderful tool to help students identify their feelings and in turn, sort them out. I feel that this will be a wonderful year for our sweet students as a result of all of your generous donations!”

  • Incorporating Safe Technology in a Preschool Classroom.

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

We wanted to extend our warmest gratitude for your incredibly generous contribution to our classroom. We have wanted to incorporate Leap Pads into our daily learning but sadly did not have the budget for these handy little tools. One of the things I love most about leap pads is that children can use them without accessing the internet. All games target specific educational needs that are developmentally appropriate for our age group.

Our students have been thoroughly enjoying the games purchased with your generous donation. Students that had a little more difficulty learning numbers and letters are already showing improvement with this educational tool. It has also been a wonderful method of helping those who have already acquired the basics and are ready for a bit more of a challenge. The range of games we have allows children to learn and explore safely at all levels.

We are also immensely grateful for the accessories that were purchased along with the leap pads. The headphones help students focus on the activity they're working on without disturbing others. The protective cases help keep our tablets safe. The gift cards have allowed us to download one of our favorite programs (Leap Frog's Letter Factory) that supplements the learning that is happening in the class. Children have a wonderful visual to assist in learning the alphabet as well as chant fun songs targeting letter sounds.

We are beyond grateful for your generosity as you have allowed our students valuable tools to help make their preschool experience a safe and exciting one!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. K.

  • Keeping Our Work Organized

    Funded Apr 6, 2018

Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donation. The materials you provided us with have allowed us to do so many wonderful things in the classroom. For instance, we have created special portfolios for each child to take home at the end of the year with a collection of their school work. This is a wonderful way for the students and their families to have keepsakes from the children's time in preschool. We have also been experimenting with different writing utensils as children begin their journey in learning to write. Our new writing utensils have been fun to use and compare. Children were fascinated by the fact that dry/erase markers were actually erasable as oppose to regular markers. We also compared the ease of use. Children noted that some were easier to use than others. We graphed their comparisons as our weekly math graph. Overall, we are truly appreciative of your generous donation and promise that it has impacted our classroom in a wonderful way!”

  • Digital Library for Young Learners

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

There are not enough words to describe the tremendous impact your generous donation has had on my classroom and my students. This wonderful technology has allowed us to explore so many wonderful things. We've discovered new stories that we did not have access to previously such as the Piggie and Elephant series from Mo Willems! That sure did bring us tons of laughter and enjoyment! We also learned a lot of new vocabulary via those and other stories.

Another wonderful aspect of this new technology has been the ability to quickly research information that students are curious about. For instance, we have been really excited to see new birds flying past our window. Last week, we saw a red bird and wanted to know more. We used our iPads to research red birds and learned that our little visitor was a Cardinal. We were also able to listen to the sounds of a Cardinal and other birds.

We are truly grateful for your incredibly generous donation and want you to know that you have really touched our students!”

  • Building Memories!

    Funded Apr 4, 2017

Thank you so much for your generosity! Having a camera in our classroom has allowed us to document some amazing moments! Most recently, we have created a home-school connection project asking students and parents to create bird feeders out of recycled materials. We hung these bird feeders on the trees outside of our classroom so that students have easy viewing access. Our classroom camera has been a fun way to capture some of the birds that have visited the feeders created by our students. Students are also enjoying capturing special events happening at our school such as 3-D art composed by our students during Week of the Young Child week etc. This camera will allow us to capture upcoming events such as end of the year shows, field day and more. It will be wonderful to share our classroom memories with our families! Thank you so much for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. K.

  • Learning Through Our Senses!

    Funded Apr 4, 2017

First and foremost, our most heartfelt 'thank you' for generously donating to our classroom. Our students are thrilled to have a wonderful area rug to play in. We are using it in the Block Area where students are gathering to build various structures using their creativity. Their faces simply lit up when they first saw this welcoming new area! As a result, students are more engaged and more inclined to work in that area. This area promotes wonderful skills that they can carry with them throughout their lives such as taking turns, sharing, building, creating and using their imagination.

Students are also super excited about our sand/water table. Our previous sand/water tables broke and were no longer useful. Students missed engaging in sand and water play. It's especially soothing for students with sensory issues. Having a new sand/water table in our classroom has prompted students to actively engage in measuring and critical thinking activities. We have placed a multitude of sensory materials in those areas for students to use and learn from.

On behalf of myself, my assistant and my students, thank you for your kindness and generosity. With your help, our students are truly enjoying a wonderful preschool experience!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. K.

  • My Students Need a MacBook Pro & Headphones to Investigate.

    Funded Dec 16, 2016

It is with the utmost gratitude that we write this letter today. Your donation has been a tremendous asset in our classroom. Our students are enjoying all the benefits of being able to explore any topic of choice at their finger tips. For instance, in our science area, students were curious about dinosaurs. We decided to research about dinosaurs using our classroom MacBook Pro. Students were mesmerized by the abundance of information we found, specifically pictures! As a result, the students learned names of specific dinosaurs that they were interested in and even took a virtual trip to the Museum of Natural History in NYC! This was a fantastic opportunity for our inner city children who would perhaps never have been afforded this wonderful opportunity.

Our investigations did not stop there. The other day it snowed for the first time. Students asked many questions about the weather and what makes snow/rain happen. We took to our MacBook Pro to investigate. We found so much information which prompted a classroom project on condensation! We gathered Ziploc bags, filled them with water and food coloring. We hung them up on our classroom windows and watched the process of condensation in action! This was a result of gathering information and investigating on our new classroom device. Students documented the entire process in their classroom journals. We have since continued to investigate weather in different parts of the world.

Our headphones have been a wonderful addition to our classroom as well. We have a few ipads in the classroom pre-loaded with preschool apps. However, we didn't have working headphones so it became difficult for children to concentrate on their work. With our new classroom headphones, children are able to utilize technology in the classroom without interrupting other students' work. Also, it allows students to engage properly without distraction.

We are so grateful for your generosity and contribution. Please know that you have made our students incredibly happy! We truly appreciate your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. K.

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are often faced with many challenges. It it my biggest priority to ensure my classroom is a safe, nurturing and exciting environment for children to learn and flourish. We have an abundance of learning areas in the classroom offering a means for students to manipulate the environment through hands-on interaction. As a teacher of young learners, i want to ensure that my students reach their full potential by exposing them to as many academic opportunities based on their interest. I feel that when children explore based on their curiosity, the learning becomes more meaningful and captivating.
