Healthy Snacks During Testing
Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our school's snack project! We created a delicious snack cart that helped the seniors get through a grueling day of SAT testing!
There were SO MANY SNACKS! The students loved them and were so appreciative! When the students expected to pay for the snacks and were informed that they were free, they couldn't believe it. The variety allowed each and every student to choose something that they liked and no student was hungry during testing.
The remaining snacks will be used during Regents testing in January and will be available to all of our 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students during the week of testing. Thank you again for supporting our school and establishing a tradition of healthy snacks for students during testing.”

Funded Aug 10, 2022Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my class project! My students really appreciate the vocabulary flashcards and are using them in class every day. The bright colors, realistic images and clear language allow my students to acquire new vocabulary in a fun and engaging way.
We are currently using the noun flashcards to help us learn new vocabulary words for our unit on shopping and constructing dialogue. In addition, we are really excited to use the food flashcards for our next unit, where we will learn foods, shapes, and colors so that we can "open a restaurant" and design our own menu!
Beginner English language learners face many challenges and these resources allow me to make our time together, learning the basics of the English language, more fun. Thank you!”

Funded Jun 4, 2022Thank you so much for your generous contributions. The students were so excited to see the well-stocked snack cart during their Regents examinations in June!
Due to your generosity, students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 were able to benefit from the selection of snacks throughout the entirety of Regents Week. The variety of snacks allowed for student choice during multiple, welcome breaks during testing.
This school year, I will continue this practice at our school in order to establish a tradition of providing energizing and healthy snack options to all students during Regents examinations, Advanced Placement testing and PSAT/SAT administration.
Thank you again, from all students and staff at the High School of Arts & Technology!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Renner
Modern Technology Leads to Engaging Remote Lessons for Language Learners
Funded May 4, 2021This device has been invaluable for my in-person, hybrid and remote instruction this year. Updated technology has allowed me to access more resources so that I can develop more interactive and engaging lessons for my English Language Learners.
I can now easily connect to SMART boards to present information, access audio and video resources, and demonstrate new platforms for the presentation of projects and assignments.
Up-to-date technology has inspired and enabled more creativity in the classroom, which has allowed my students to enjoy practicing reading, writing, listening and speaking in English in an interactive and collaborative way.
Thank you so very much for your donation.”

Funded Feb 10, 2017Thank you all so very much for your generous contributions. The materials have improved my classroom in so many ways! The students loved the games, books, and decorations that your donations allowed us to purchase.
The English Language Learner Game Library is a big hit and allows all students to participate, regardless of their English proficiency level. My more advanced students are able to further build their skills by teaching the beginners how to play and the beginners are able to practice reading and speaking, as well as learning new vocabulary and grammar. Hazard Mountain is a more challenging game and provides an opportunity for essential inference practice, in an enjoyable way.
The phonics and sight words books are an invaluable resource for my students who have just arrived to the country. These resources serve as a means to learn new vocabulary and practice reading, writing and speaking, both in class and at home. The ABC border brightened up a dull area of the classroom and serves as a reference to students when they are looking up words in their dictionaries.
Your contributions have allowed me to add an element of fun to my students' English acquisition. We all thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!”

Ms. Renner
ESL/ENL Classroom Supplies
Funded Nov 8, 2016Thank you very much for your generous contributions. The materials have improved my classroom in so many ways! Students now know that I have a supply of notebooks and pencils, and they are not afraid to ask for them. This is so important, because many of them do not have the resources to access these materials, and now they have a teacher who can help them out, no questions asked.
The colored paper has led to the beginnings of a beautiful, multi-lingual word wall. The students enjoy the bright colors and use the colorful markers to draw beautiful pictures of new vocabulary words that they learn. The loose leaf paper is in abundant supply, so the students do not hesitate to edit their work and continuously make improvements. The brightly-colored post-it notes make feedback fun and beautiful.
Supplies that many students take for granted, such as erasers, notebooks, paper, pens, and pencils are all bought by the teachers at my school. Your contributions have allowed me to more fully equip my students with the necessities and enabled me to provide them with the basic tools that they need, so that they can focus on learning. We all thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!”
