My students and I are currently having to move classrooms. We are being moved to a smaller room with older equipment. I am trying to help students remain motivated and excited about school when they are allowed to come. The chairs will give the classroom a new feel even if it is still older. They will have a comfortable place to sit. This means for girls will not have their long hair caught in the chairs. New furniture will add color to and vibrance to the classroom. What will the books do for my students. They will give them relevant stories to read about people who are like them. It is my belief that social justice should be at the forefront of what is taught to students that may be marginalized. They must know what it is to have justice if they are to seek justice. These are some of the small differences that these new materials will make on the lives of the students that I teach.
