My students need basic school supplies to be able to do their academic work and to stay organized throughout the academic year. Since many students come from low income homes, I would like to help make the school year less stressful for them and their parents, by ensuring that students have all the supplies they need. As their third grade teacher, I would like to teach my students organizational skills by helping them create Math and Language arts interactive notebooks where students will keep notes taken during lessons organized and which will help them have something to refer back to when doing their academic work at school and/or at home. Creating these interactive notebooks require many different materials (notebooks, glue, highlighters, pencils, crayons, etc.) to be able to create detailed and often times color coded notes. In addition, often times students will cut foldables to glue inside which require lots of copy paper to create the foldables. All the materials requested will be used by students during daily lessons. For instance, pencil, pens, highlighters, erasers, glue, crayons, and notebooks will be used during instruction to write, highlight, anotate, and glue into their notebooks. The paper and toner will be used to print out foldables necessary for their interactive notebooks.
