Got Books?
Funded Jun 28, 2022Thank you so much for all of your donations, my students and I truly appreciate them very much. The books have given students access to information they would not have gained otherwise.
These biography books of scientists have given students knowledge of careers in the science fields and expanded their knowledge of scientists backgrounds. The books I chose had a diversity of scientists so that students can see not all scientists are middle aged white men.
I hope these books will inspire students to choose a career in a Science field!”

SIMS Let's Get Physical
Funded Oct 21, 2016Thank you so very much! The students really enjoyed the materials and had fun doing the activities. The supplies allowed them to learn while having high engagement. Even the most unenthused and unmotivated students actively participated in the hands on activities. Hands on learning always helps to reach all students and improves classroom behavior. The students have the best group discussions and use critical thinking skills. Again, thank you for providing these opportunities for my students, they truly appreciate it!”

Genetics Made Easy!
Funded Oct 8, 2015Thank you so much for the donation that made purchasing these materials possible. Learning about things that are unfamiliar and that can not be seen is very difficult. These materials will bring genetics to life by providing the students with various hands-on activities. The crazy traits kit will allow students to explore natural selection, Punnett Squares, Dominant and Recessive Traits, Inheritance, and Biodiversity. Students will gain valuable knowledge with the use of these materials.
Thank again!!!”

Bill Nye and Protists
Funded Jun 24, 2015Thank you for your donations, the students LOVED the Bill Nye videos. Bill can explain and show demonstrations that I am unable to do in the classroom. The protist identification materials were a huge hit. It let the students actually see real protists. Without these materials, the students would have only had textbook pictures to use. Before, we would use pond water and the protist were nearly impossible to find. The students were able to use the identification chart and found many protists. Thanks again!”

Ribbett, Ribbett, These Frogs Have Croaked!
Funded Oct 9, 2014Thank you for your donation, the students loved dissecting the frogs! "This is so cool!" "Mine has a beetle in it's stomach!" These are just a couple of the reaction the students had during the activity.
All of the students were able to correctly identify the organs in the frog, this will be very useful information when they need to identify human organs on the assessment. See the organs and handling them is so much better than looking at them in books.
I'm sure this activity will be remembered for a long time.”

Got Books?
Funded Oct 9, 2014"Oh, now I get it!" This statement was commonly heard as students read through material on the electricity unit.
My students used the materials purchased to discover series and parallel circuits. Resistance and insulators were also researched.
The materials allowed the students to conduct their own research of electromagnets and investigate different connections to make a light bulb light. The materials provided the information that allowed the students to create parallel circuits. Thanks again for the materials.”

It's Electric!!
Funded Oct 9, 2014"Oh, now I get it!" This statement was commonly heard as students read through material on the electricity unit.
My students used the materials purchased to discover series and parallel circuits. Resistance and insulators were also researched.
The materials allowed the students to create their own electromagnets and investigate different connections to make a light bulb light. Their faces lit up almost as much as the light bulb when they finally figured out the correct wiring. Thanks again for the materials.”

Bill Nye
Funded Oct 9, 2014The Bill Nye videos are great! The students are excited every time they here the opening song and sing along.
The videos are a really nice introduction to a topic and even better to use as a closure to a unit. Bill Nye enforces what the students have learned and uses real world examples.
Allowing the students to see and hear another explain the same topic in new ways helps the students to better comprehend the material. Thanks again for the materials, the students have greatly enjoyed the videos.”

Making Simple Machines Simple
Funded Oct 17, 2013The students loved materials!! They are very eager young scientists that want to explore everything!! Without this grant, my students would have studied simple machines through books.
These resources allowed my students to complete investigations about calculating work and the mechanical advantages of a lever.
The students were able to investigate how simple machines make work easier by magnifying, modifying, transferring, or changing the direction of the applied force. Thank you so much!!!”

Measuring Up
Funded Oct 17, 2013The students loved the materials we received. It was like Christmas morning watching them open the boxes! They were very excited to learn how to use al of the measuring devices.
Students have been reading thermometers and recording the temperature outside, weighing various materials using scales, and handling beakers in labs, not measuring with plastic spoons and cups.
These resources have aided the students in many science labs by strengthening their measuring and math skills. Thank you so much.”
