All of the materials being asked for will enhance my students' movement creativity during music class. Not only will they learn fun ethnic dances from around the world, but they will learn to keep steady beats and follow changing rhythms within the songs. The materials will also help with their coordination and imagination. For many students, movement is quite the challenge for several reasons. Some find it difficult to maintain a steady beat, others struggle to stay in their designated areas and others simply struggle to find the motivation to want to move. The materials will help motivate students to feel comfortable to move to and explore different beats and rhythms. For example, the Sony Boombox will play music that is not as easy to come by elsewhere. The Carpet Markers will serve as floor markers to help guide students during the learning process. This will also help teach students about space and boundaries while moving with a partner to a steady beat. The LED Orbs will also enhance the students' enthusiasm while doing movement. Students using the orbs will have the opportunity to lead the rest of the students in their movement and even when playing instruments. Having these materials will definitely be a positive addition to our classroom. Students will enjoy coming to music class even more!
