  • Super Supplies

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

The items that you donated to our classroom have been very helpful. The headphones are being used during centers to listen to stories and to complete math and literacy lessons.

The students are very excited about the chair baggies because they can store their extra stuff that doesn't fit inside of their desk there. This helps them stay more organized.

We are looking forward to making Christmas ornaments with our new photo printer. The pictures are going to make the memory of fourth grade last forever.”

  • Squeaky Clean

    Funded Sep 14, 2020

Thank you for donating these cleaning supplies to our classroom. During this pandemic it is very stressful worrying about keeping the kids and ourselves safe. This takes the worry away knowing that we have the supplies that we need to make sure that we are all safe. Our room will definitely be "Squeaky Clean!"”

  • Colors Speak Louder Than Words

    Funded Sep 10, 2019

Thank you for your donation of this color printer. We have used the printer to print charts, stickers, flyers, and decorations. The charts that we printed remind the students of strategies that they can use when reading and writing. The stickers were made for them to decorate their notebooks to celebrate the end of one of the writing units. These things help motivate the students to learn.

The students are excited every time they receive something in color instead of black and white. Especially when they can receive maps in color for Social Studies so that they can explore them better.

All of the students were very thankful for receiving this printer. They were smiling knowing that there are people out there that care about them and want to see them succeed.”

  • Back to Basics

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

The children were so excited when they got your package. They felt so loved and important because of your generosity.

We have made a huge dent in the supplies that you have donated. We use them every day in all subjects. Most recently the children gave each other peer feedback on their literary essays on a post it. The children then went back and revised their writing.

We are currently collecting research on controversial topics, writing an opinion essay, and adding and subtracting fractions. Your donation will continue to benefit our classroom.”

  • New Worlds to Travel

    Funded Mar 3, 2019

Some of the books that you donated were fantasy books. Our last literacy unit was a fantasy unit. We taught lessons on theme and quests. The students enjoyed reading these books and identifying the theme and mapping the characters internal and external quests.

My students also used these books to complete the Mets Ya Gotta Read challenge. They read over a total of 70,000 minutes in 5 weeks. These books gave them new worlds to explore and lessons to learn.

From the moment the books arrived and were put into the library, the students had them checked our. They enjoyed reading them and exchanging them with one another.

Thank you for giving them these wonderful books. My class next year will continue to get to enjoy these great additions to the classroom.”

  • Everything at Our Fingertips

    Funded Dec 6, 2018

Our students have been using the chromebooks for research projects and online learning. We researched different explorers and created google slides during Social Studies. We also use a website called i-Ready to help us in math and literacy.

In our classroom we only had 10 laptops. This makes it difficult for all of the students to have a turn to use the technology. Now that we have 2 more laptops, more children are able to access the technology.

This is especially helpful for our special education students because they need the laptops to type up their writing pieces and to listen to stories or videos that might help them with their learning.”

  • Power Our Learning

    Funded Oct 26, 2018

We have introduced the family playlists to our students and our families. The students were enthusiastic about the opportunity to go home and teach their families about what they are learning in school. We have received positive feedback from the students and their families about the playlists. We love looking at the pictures they take with their family partners.

I have even had the opportunity to create my own playlist. This was challenging but, the students enjoyed playing the game that I included about adding and subtracting fractions. They also enjoyed working with a recipe and some even made the Rice Krispy Treats.

This is a wonderful opportunity to get the students and families involved in their learning!”

  • Let's Talk About Math!

    Funded Oct 2, 2018

During our math periods we have number talks. This is where I put an equation on the board and the students have to mentally solve the problem. After they mentally solve the problem, they explain how they got their answer. It is fascinating to see the different ways that the students use to solve the problems. This is also a good opportunity to share other strategies that they can use.

When the students saw the new materials they were excited. They are happy to try out new things and love when materials are donated to the classroom.

Our next project will be to gather more books for our classroom library. Stay tuned!”

  • Get Lost in a Great Book

    Funded Sep 29, 2018

While reading Home of the Brave, we taught the students to identify themes. This book taught valuable lessons like "be happy for what you have because others do not have as much", "sometimes in life you have to grow up very fast", "even when things get tough you need to have hope that things will get better".

In our classroom we like to read aloud in a circle and have discussions about the books we are reading. The students also enjoy reading their own books at their desks or in a quiet spot in the room.

When we collected the books when we were done with the story, one of the students wanted to keep it. He still has it and he enjoys reading it over and over. He said he really enjoys the story and the lessons that it teaches.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Brown

  • Paper, Paper, and More Paper!

    Funded Sep 18, 2018

We use the paper every day. We print graphic organizers, anchor charts, and math problems for the students to glue in their notebooks. They can refer back to these when they need a visual reminder of what they have learned. We also print exit slips so we can see which students need extra help.

When the students saw the boxes of paper they were amazed. They couldn't believe how much paper we received. They were very grateful because they know how important the paper is and how fast we go through it. They were relieved that they wouldn't have to worry about buying more paper.

Our students are currently working on a non-fiction unit. They are researching the westward expansion and they will be completing a project based on a topic of their liking. They will be able to research articles and print them and print pictures to accompany their projects.”
