My students are learning how to use Tinkercad, a free 3D software website that's teaching them how to design object with different lenghts, widths, and heights. They are learning symmetry and alignment. In the absence of an actual printer I have my students create 3D models of what they would have printed out. One student was interested to print a sneaker so she designed one using cut out cardboard paper. Right now students are designing 3D images on Tinkercad while saving their work as .STL files. They have not 3D printed anything but hope to do so in the future. Having a 3D printer will definitely boost my student's confidence as it will give them validation that with determination and creativity they can learn a tool that they an use in future jobs.
