  • Computers Help Bridge the Digital Divide

    We truly appreciate your very generous donations to our students! With you help, our students can access the internet to do research for their projects, use word processing and spreadsheet programs, and access online resources that will help them achieve their academic goals.

    My students have to create event and tour companies and require computer access to make their documents and presentations look professional. The computers that you have donated help these students learn how to use the very same programs that they will depend on in a true business setting.

    Thank you for donating the materials for our project. Technology is incredibly important in education today and these computers and printer were a wonderful addition to our class.

    We ask our students to research, complete assignments, take assessments, and do homework online. With only a few computers in the class, it is difficult at times for the students to complete everything they need to do during class time. These computers helped our students have an opportunity to complete their work and print it out in a timely fashion. Having the chance to print out their work instantly has been very exciting and encouraging for them. The pride they show as they turn it in or display it in the room is wonderful.

    My students enjoy having access to a computer. With more computers available, the students can get more accomplished. Also, with access to more computers the students can spend a longer period working on these programs helping them gain greater proficiency.

As technology evolves I feel that it is my role as a classroom teacher to provide meaningful experiences to enhance their digital literacy. The laptops and printer will provide my students the opportunity to work on many activities in the classroom that will improve their technological skills. These laptops will provide additional computers to our classroom. This will help give more of my student’s access to complete their online classwork and district programs that target their individual needs. We employ a real world financial simulator that requires students to pay their bills, balance their finances, contribute to a 401k, and make a variety of financial choices. This simulator requires daily internet access and these computers will help students have more access during the school day. In addition our students will create a variety of projects dealing with personal budgeting, auto financing, money management, banking basics, and even finding a place to live. The printer will provide my students the opportunity to print their work so that I can display it in class. This will help inspire them as they see their final product printed and displayed. In addition, our school district is moving towards adopting electronic textbooks for our students. These laptops will provide students increased access to their textbooks online.
