Back to Basics
Funded Mar 23, 2015Sometimes it is the most basic of tools that hinders a child from learning. There have been so many wasted moments because we could not sharpen a pencil or put our work in our folders. These lost moments take away from valuable teaching and learning time. Due to your kindness and generosity, these issues will no longer effect this years students. Additionally, you have provided science and art resources that will help many classes to come. Students will have mirrors when they draw their own self portrait so that they can fine tune their observation skills. Furthermore, there are numerous scientific investigations that can be done with magnets. The impact that you have made is immeasurable and we appreciate your donation so much.”

Dreaming of Dancing and Drumming
Funded Mar 12, 2015We cannot thank the Lily Sarah Grace Fund enough. What an honor it was to be selected by such an admirable organization. The resources that you have provided have made an immeasurable impact on this years students and the generations to come. There were instances where students were starting to withdraw and become defiant in class, and the drums gave the students an opportunity to express themselves and to shine in the class. The students and I have been overwhelmed by your generosity.
The resources that you have provided have connected a diverse group of students through music and rhythm. They have learned and future students will understand that music and movement are a common thread that connect all cultures and people from around the world. Words cannot express our appreciation for your generous gift.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Lily Sarah Grace Fund.Think....Thrilling Theater
Funded Feb 2, 2015Words cannot truly express our gratitude for your generosity! Thank you so much for donating both transportation and theater tickets for 80 students. If only someone from your company could have been there to see the amazement in the students eyes when they were watching a live performance. It was like this opportunity lit a spark inside them that showed them that story telling can come in many forms and acting out these stories could also be a hobby or a profession. To top it off, the performance was held in a theater on a college campus. This allowed the students to picture their futures on the first college campus that they have ever experienced.
You not only donated the money for the theater, but you also donated money for transportation. We simply could not have gotten there if it weren't for JCPenney. We have informed the community of your generosity and everyone was so appreciative. The experience not only reinforced literature and artistic concepts that I had taught throughout the year, but it truly stamped a lasting impact on our diverse group of students. Thank you so much!!”

Search for the Moon the and Stars at JPL
Funded Oct 21, 2012We can't thank you enough for all your generosity. No words can fully explain the impact that you have had on my student's learning this year. You have provided us with a year's worth of Time Magazines and nonfictional texts . The magazines have come regularly and have helped my students gain skills in main idea, inference, drawing conclusions with topics that are relevant to their lives.
This supplemental program has also enhanced our knowledge of space. When we went to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, due to your funding of our bus trip, there were so many "Ooh's & Aah's" as well as students saying that this was the best field trip of their lives. This is exactly the sound that every teacher dreams of hearing from her students. All of our class learning has culminated with a real world experience and their learning has a greater depth of meaning. Our entire school is now inspired to try to get their students to JPL. Your generosity reaches far beyond my class alone and we cannot thank you enough!!!!”

TechHelp?
Funded Jan 12, 2012It is unbelievable that you all have come together to help make this grant come to fruition. My 24 students are taking turns and are enjoying all the possibilities with their two new laptops. I am able to extend academic lessons that I teach in language arts, typing, math, and so much more. Thank you one billion times for helping us acquire new technology that supports our everyday learning. Before these laptops arrived, my students only had access to desktops that are dated to be over 10 years old. Your kindness and generosity is truly appreciated by my third graders and all my future students as well. Thank you so much!”

Funded Sep 23, 2011We have already thoroughly enjoyed our new classroom carpet and have already finished our first novel about Charlotte's Web due to your generosity. It is extremely touching to know that there are wonderful people that truly care about the education in our public schools. I cannot thank you enough for contributing to the truly needed resources in our classroom. As soon as the carpet arrived the students huddling around it. Additionally, Charlotte's Web was literature that was engaging to dissect and we still have additional novels to read due to this grant being fulfilled. We are all touched and honored to be chosen to be a recipient of your kindness.”

Expand Our Minds
Funded Nov 23, 2010It is difficult to truly express the impact that your donations have made. We are so grateful that you chose to help us experience learning through many great enrichment opportunities including recycled-paper making, music instruction with recorders, and pottery. I know that we are one of the lucky few, in a public school that services students who live below the poverty line, able to experience these types of opportunities.
Your generosity has not only helped my students, it has also helped me as an educator. I am learning, with my students, how to read and play music as an ensemble. This process constantly reminds me to view teaching in the eyes of the learner. There are countless examples of how your donations have forever positively impacted our lives. For example, there is one of the particular student that you have helped. She has had a history of being withdrawn due to special needs and trauma. Now, she reminds me each week that we need to practice our recorders and she cheers each time we do.
Additionally, we are currently recycling paper to make recycled cards for Valentine's Day. My fifth graders are so excited about this project that a majority of them have been coming into the classroom during their recess and lunch in order to make more paper and teach their friends the procedures. All of this and we still have a pottery project to look forward to. I hope this letter gives you a small window to view the impact that your donations have made. It really means so much that you care. Thank you!!!!”

Essential School Supplies
Funded Sep 18, 2010It was such a privileged to be able to instruct my students with an award winning novel. The novel, Maniac Magee, gave so many valuable lessons to my 37 students. Most of the students stated that this was their first chapter book that they have ever finished and the others stated that it was their first time reading a 200 page book with their classmates. The overwhelming sentiment, upon finishing the book, was that they were going to miss reading the book and they yearned for more. Due to the funding of this grant, I was also able to share other resources with my colleagues like magnets for displaying student work and certificates to honor the students' hard work. Your generosity has changed the lives of 37 students in more ways than can possibly be measured. I look forward to using these materials in future classes. Thank you so much!”

Increase Student Performance
Funded Aug 30, 2010Your generosity is unbelievably wonderful! I had tears in my eyes from the kindness that you have bestowed on me and my students. It has not only energized me as an educator, but also has inspired my student to work hard. They are learning first hand, not only from the materials you have generously donated, but also from the experience that you have provided. They have learned that there are companies in our community, like the Claire Giannini Fund, that care. You have donated a computer that will provide underprivileged students access to technology for years to come. You have also provided us with whiteboard markers that will last us for at least half the year. Last year, I asked our school to provide markers for my students and I was told that they did not have the funding to do so. Just today, I was able to check the understanding of my 5th graders ability to write a bibliography in matter of moments because they could use their individual whiteboards. The tools that you have provided are now used on a daily basis to increase and enhance my students' education. If there were words greater than thank you, I would use them. For now, I want to say, "Thank you!"”

Learning Literacy the Fun Way!
Funded Apr 16, 2010As a teacher in an inner city school, I know that there are many demands that are placed my students without the necessary resources to fulfill these expectations. My classroom has over 30 students who live below the poverty level and some struggle with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and severe learning disabilities. Students require both whole group instruction and small group instruction in order to increase academic achievement. It seemed impossible to instruct 4 children, while 28 were actively engaged in learning until I received your help.
Now, we have an abundance of engaging and exciting learning activities. For instance, the writing center has a wealth of writing projects that include the integration of art, imagination, self initiated projects, and the dissection of literature. With your generosity, the students have access to 8 popular chapter books on CD and a multitude of stimulating games to enhance fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary . Your donation has allowed theses students and all my future students to be excited about reading and writing. These skills will be with them forever and will ultimately give them a chance for success. We are so grateful and overwhelmed by your kindness. ”
