Our class lessons utilize a lot of movement across subject areas on a daily basis. I explain to my students the importance of collaboration and partner talk. Everyone has the opportunity to experience each lesson and share their learning with a partner during the "active engagement" literacy time. The need for close proximity, while staying in their personal space, is crucial to the partner talk learning experience. I am requesting one Classroom Carpet for 30 that has the needed space to let children focus during our literacy block. Each student will have an assigned spot on the rug that will limit distractions while also making partner talk and transition time, to and from the carpet, much smoother. This will result in increased collaboration and partner work which embraces California's Core Standards.
