Intelligence and Technology
Funded Dec 1, 2020Technology has had a large influence on all our students this past year. I have had to teach students online and face to face. My students and I have conquered this hurdle and have become pretty good at using technology. I wanted to give my students the opportunity to use technology in a different way.
I was gifted tablets to use in my classroom. One way that I used these is as a station for students to read from the Kindle app. I must say they really loved to have the access to books right there at their fingertips. Next, we used the tablets to read QR codes and linked to each student's QR code was a project they had completed. At first, I couldn't get the QR codes to link to the student work. I pulled in a couple of my students explained the problem and within a couple of minutes, these students had it figured out and the problem solved.
Our kids are the future and giving them many ways to learn, including technology, will only enhance what they learn! Thank you!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by FamilyAlbum and one other donor. We Want to Read Please!
Funded Dec 8, 2020I would like to thank you for giving us these books. My students have been able to find books that interest them and support their love for reading. We were able to use these books not only to support our readers individually but also as a whole group. We usually choose one book per nine weeks to do a novel study on. We focus on the vocabulary of the book and answering questions to help with comprehension and understanding.
Reading in my classroom is enjoyment. I try to instill that reading is not only for learning but just for pure fun as well. Many students have read these books and then suggested them to friends and classmates. This is what reading should be about.
This past year has been hard for many of my students. Books offer them a safe place to escape. We received many books that captured the student's attention and gave them a place to dream.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mccalla
