  • It’s Not Just Black History, It’s Our History!

    Funded Feb 5, 2025

    Thank you so much for your support! The resources we received have been the center of attention in the library. Not only are students loving the new display and the books we have on display, but so have other teachers and parents. This was in an effort to help students see, know, and be curious about history whether it be Black History, Women's History, Native American History, or American History.

    I wanted my students to be inspired and motivated to learn more and dig deeper. The display on Women's History caught students attention and had them engaged in books they may not have other wise picked up. It had them asking questions and looking for more books about the same person.

    Since I see different groups of students each day, I like to select one book to read aloud each week and place it back in the display area. I am looking forward to making more displays to help students stay informed about our different cultures and history. Thank you for helping to make it possible.”

    Thank you so much for giving my students the opportunity to share and read stories about some magnificent women. The books have been on display this month and we are learning a lot about the impact and dedication of these amazing women. As we study the life and achievements of women from centuries ago to present day, we are amazed as the struggles they have gone through to inspire others. I am hoping that with these materials, my students will each take away a lesson about what they can accomplish if they stay focused. The lessons and discussions from these materials will have a lasting effect on my students that I hope they will let guide them in setting goals and strive to achieve them.
