  • Boosting Kindergarten Literacy

    Funded Jul 17, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation! These items will give my students the opportunity to continue to practice their early literacy skills. These skills are necessary for them to be successful in their continued academic careers and future professions.

Thank you all again for your kindness and support for my students.”

  • Chick, Chick, Hurray!

    Funded Apr 3, 2023

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to purchase newer equipment to conduct our annual chick/duck life study. The new incubator gave the students an opportunity to observe the eggs without the obstructions encountered with our previous incubator.

While the number of eggs that hatched was small, the students had a multi disciplinary experience learning about the life cycle of our ducks this year. Needless to say my students were sad we had to return the ducks to the farm to be lovingly raised and kept.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity!”

  • Let’s Keep In Person Learning Safe and Fun!

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

I want to thank you all again for your support. Prior to Covid, there was always lots of sharing of materials throughout the day in the classroom. However, we had to rethink how we were able to teach certain concepts and skills with limited sharing of materials.

The clear backpacks made it so much easier for the students to keep up with their own personal materials throughout the day (hand sanitizer, extra masks, etc.). They were excited to be able to locate their items right away whenever they needed it. Additionally, the clear containers provided students more opportunities to enjoy tactile experiences with the sand and other items, such as fun foam and water beads. The students also enjoyed using the jumbo dice when working on simple addition.

My teaching assistant and I were able to wipe down and sanitize all of the items with the Clorox wipes in between each use so that each child could use the materials safely.

I thank you again for all of your generosity!”

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

I am so grateful to all of you! Thank you so much for all of your generous donations! It is because of all of you that we are able to continue to do the work that we do with our students in our urban areas. You are all very much appreciated!”

  • Distance Learning - We Got This!

    Funded Sep 3, 2020

First, I want to apologize for the delay in describing the impact with the materials received. My district was entirely virtual until the last six weeks of school in which parents had a choice of in person learning or to remain virtual. Needless to say parents chose the virtual option. I was able to coordinate a date and time to distribute the materials to the students at the end of the school year.

With all of that said, the parents and students alike have been very happy with the materials! I received a few emails of appreciation from the parents. Some of the parents have been using the flash cards to reinforce beginning sight words. Other parents have told me they are reading the kindergarten readiness book from the kit with their child so they are aware of the expectations of kindergarten. Additionally other parents have shared that their children are enjoying drawing and coloring with the pencils and crayons during long car rides to visit family members. I have asked the parents who have read the book with their child to have their child draw a picture of their favorite part of the book. If and when I receive any pictures I will update and share those photos.

Once again, I am very sorry for the delay with responding. It has been an exceedingly challenging school year. However, I am very grateful for all of the donations that helped to get this project funded, allowing me to get the materials into the hands of my students.”

    With gratitude,

  • We Need to Update Our Dramatic Play Area!

    Funded Mar 29, 2018

I want to thank you all again so much for your donation! The students are REALLY enjoying the new furniture in our house area. They are going to the area everyday "to have parties" and they are "shopping" to make "dinner for the babies".

The students are learning so many real life skills. They are taking turns, they they are sharing, and they are problem solving. In fact, we have discovered that they boys are enjoying the house area more than the girls this school year. During breakfast, the students quickly make plans to see who will go in the house area and come up with ideas of what they will do that day.

You have made my students extremely happy and excited to use the house area and for that I am eternally grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Simmons Room

  • We Need Technology in Pre-K!

    Funded Sep 18, 2017

I want to take this opportunity to thank you again for your kindness and generosity. My students thank you as well!

Since receiving the Amazon Fire Tablets a few weeks ago, the students have been using them several times a week. Most days the students use sites such as Starfall.com to develop and reinforce literacy skills that will help prepare them for kindergarten. However, the students have also used the tablets (with adult guidance of course) to learn about topics such as mummies, how to make chocolate milk, and holidays around the world. As the students become more familiar with using the tablets, we will begin to use the tablets to conduct long term STEAM studies.

The tablets have given my students an opportunity to use technology in ways they may have never thought of due to a lack of technology at the Pre-K level. I am sure that with continued use, my students will continue to be inspired to learn about new topics of interest.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Simmons Room

  • Help Us to Replace Items Lost in Fire

    Funded Apr 4, 2017

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. Because of the fire, we lost all of the items we had in our storage area for the students to use. We had nothing but what little items that were in the classroom. Thankfully the classrooms in the building were not damaged.

Because of your generous donations, my students were able to come to a classroom that was fully stocked with a variety of materials for them to use on a daily basis. As you can see from the pictures that have been provided, my students have been able to continue to learn important skills such as problem solving and collaborating with peers.

I would like to thank all of you again for making my students so very happy to have supplies to use again. It is my hope that your generosity will continue to help other classrooms and students such as ours.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Simmons Room

  • Future Scientists

    Funded Dec 18, 2009

I want to take this opportunity again to thank you all for your support and donations. You have made my students and myself very happy with all the new materials available.

My students were so excited to use the root-view farm. Every day since we have planted the seeds, the children have engaged in discussion and have generated questions that have lasted for several weeks. The children were even more excited to enjoy the vegetables after watching transform from seed to plant to vegetable.

My students also have enjoyed using the gears. My students have been using the gears to create new types of "machines" and are developing new problem solving skills.

My students are most excited to use the bug habitat. Unfortunately weather has not permitted us to obtain any insects as of yet. However, the children are all a "buzz" about the possibility of ants or ladybugs being present in the classroom.

Once again, I thank you all for your generosity. Without your support, my students would have missed out on several wonderful opportunities to learn about the world around them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Simmons Room
