  • Reading: Where the Adventure Begins

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

What a wonderful way to start the new year, I am so grateful for this wonderful gift! I had to stop class in order to release all of the excitement I had after seeing the email that said not one, but two projects were funded. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity, Allison and Austin. My students are already planning which book they want to read first. Reading is key to the success of my students and your donation will be a huge help in instilling a continued love of reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dunham

  • Hands-on Learning!

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

This was an amazing new year surprise! Your support of our classroom will be enjoyed many, many times for years to come. My students LOVE science and working with hands on materials. We look forward to using these bins when "making snow" later this month and exploring states of matter with ooblek soon after. These bins will allow several students to work cooperatively in their shared space.

Thank you again for supporting both projects for our classroom. Your generosity means so much and is appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dunham

  • Grade 2 Book Clubs!

    Funded Feb 10, 2024

My second grade students adore this book series!! We have been reading these books in our book club during our Reading block. My students read a chapter independently or with a partner and then we reconvene, as a group, to discuss the read chapter. This discussion fosters comprehension, sharing predictions, vocabulary development and conversation skills. This particular series takes place in Washington, DC. My students are following the various settings in each book on a map of D.C. We have take some virtual field trips to further explore the many DC landmarks.

These books are available to all students in my classroom, but the enrichment they can provide my higher readers is fabulous. I have seen significant improvement in the comprehension and vocabulary assessment scores of these higher readers. These students are discussing their desires to visit Washington DC some day as a result of reading about the Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, the United States Capitol and more.

You have helped these children not only develop a love of reading, but also a desire to further explore our country. Your generous donations are so greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dunham

  • Bookworm Adventures!

    Funded Jan 1, 2019

These books have made a huge impact in my classroom! My students continue to love these books and look forward to exploring more in the future. It is amazing to see groups of children reading together or helping a buddy read. These students are then having daily discussions about what they have read. This is not only building their reading skills, but also their confidence and communication skills. Positive experiences like this will contribute to a love of reading and desire to learn.

Your donations are appreciated so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dunham

  • Fun, Flexible, and Focused Learning!

    Funded Jan 12, 2019

I cannot thank you or apologize enough. I am not quite sure how my this was not posted sooner.

My students have LOVED the new seating options in our classroom. I am able to work closely with small groups now and also provide a separate area for those that need some space during whole group time. Our "rainbow" table (students have named it due to it's shape)has quickly become a favorite workspace in our classroom.

I have several students that struggle to remain in their seats throughout the day. The wiggle seats are amazing for these children! They can complete their work while still getting that much needed movement break. These seats have helped these students to be much more successful in the classroom.

Many thanks from our second grade classroom!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dunham
