  • Add Color to Their Lives!

    Funded Sep 29, 2021

Thank you so much for donating the color printer! My students are really excited to see things in color! They have been reading books that I am able to print for them to practice at home. We are learning the words to describe the weather in English and it has been so much easier now that they can relate the word to a color photo. We also are busy learning lots of new vocabulary words, such as words for food, school supplies and activities and places in our community. Being able to print pictures in color adds a whole new layer to our learning. They are so happy to describe people, places and things using more vivid descriptive words because the pictures are in color and clearer. They get excited when the see the new book or activity when it's in color.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martins

  • Visualizing Your World in English

    Funded Sep 16, 2019

Thank you so much for donating a colored printer to our school. With this printer, we have been able to better support all students with colorful pictures to enhance their learning and understanding through content. The students are excited to have colorful resources to work with as they are more engaging. For our English language learners seeing things in color is important to make better connections to real life. We are able to discuss things using more accurate descriptive language because pictures in color are clearer and more realistic. We are able to print books for students to take home to practice reading, which also helps them to build their English language skills. The colored printer has allowed us to better support the English learners in their general education classroom by supporting their teachers with content rich images so that students can refer to these images to make better connections. Seeing things in color has contributed to our students' growth in all academic areas. Thank you for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martins

Visuals are an important tool when teaching students who are learning English. Learning new vocabulary and practicing speaking are some of the important ways in which we learn English. My students use pictures to help them when learning new words. They use them to boost their oral language, write about new things, when learning phonics and grammar and when listening to a story. Adding color to our world will enhance student learning! Having a color printer in the classroom will allow me the opportunity to print pictures related to stories we are reading, thematic units being studied throughout the year and many kinds of independent work for centers.
