Independent Reading Projects
Funded Oct 23, 2024I am beyond grateful for your generous support of our classroom through DonorsChoose. Thanks to your kindness, we are now able to provide more novels for my students, giving them the power of choice in their reading journey. These books will spark curiosity, ignite imagination, and help my students grow as readers and thinkers.
Your donation is not just a gift of books—it’s a gift of opportunities. Each novel will open up a world of new ideas, perspectives, and adventures for my students. This project will help foster their love for reading and give them the autonomy to explore stories that resonate with them.
Thank you for believing in our mission and making a real difference in the lives of my students. Your generosity will inspire them for years to come.”
With gratitude,

Choice Reading Units
Funded Oct 14, 2024The impact of this project will be transformative for my students. By expanding our classroom library with a wider variety of novels, we will provide students with the opportunity to make meaningful choices in their reading. This sense of autonomy is not only empowering but also essential for developing intrinsic motivation. When students are given the freedom to select books that reflect their interests, backgrounds, and experiences, they become more engaged and invested in their learning. This engagement leads to deeper comprehension, stronger analytical skills, and improved reading fluency—all critical components of academic success.
In addition to fostering a love for reading, this project will create an inclusive learning environment where every student feels seen and heard. Many students struggle to connect with traditional classroom texts, but a more diverse range of novels will ensure that they can find stories and characters they relate to. This representation is especially important for developing empathy and understanding of different perspectives, which are vital life skills beyond the classroom. By supporting this project, you're not just helping students improve their literacy, but also empowering them to find their voice and build a lifelong passion for reading.
The long-term benefits of this project will ripple beyond this school year. By encouraging autonomy and providing access to varied reading materials, we are equipping students with the tools they need to become independent thinkers and learners. These are skills that will serve them well throughout their academic careers and beyond. Your contribution will have a lasting impact on their growth as readers, critical thinkers, and individuals ready to engage with the world around them”
