My students and I absolutely love gardening. My students are amazed by the way things grow. We have a small school garden, but it is difficult for my students to walk all the way across campus to reach the 3 bed garden that is shared with the entire school. We would like to have a raised garden bed outside of our classroom. This would allow my students the ability to plant whatever we wanted, water the plants on a daily, consistent basis, tend to the plants and watch them grow. We also have a small aquaponics unit (currently 2 fish) in our classroom. We would love the opportunity to compare and contrast the two methods of growing plants as a science project. I believe that gardening is a great way for my students to learn math, social studies, and science.
