My students will use the iPads daily to explore new ideas. Most of my students do not have access to an engaging learning tool like the iPad. Many of my students are not reading on grade level and they do not have long attention spans. This can lead to behavior problems and I have found that engaging with exciting technology increases kids' interest and makes a good reward. iPads will greatly contribute to empowering students to become successful explorers and researchers and foster curiosity for sustained interest and learning. When we can use a great tool like the iPad to capture children's curiosity and drive, we can inspire kids to reach toward college and beyond. Once the students have explored on the iPad they will use it as an especially inviting form for sharing presentations and projects. I especially hope to have the iPads for my students as a phenomenal tool for Project Based Learning. I took a course this summer called Independent Investigations Model for Research (IIM) where I learned how to facilitate students using the 7 step IIM process to guide real-world research. Ipads would give my students the most innovative way to research, collaborate, and create projects to share. This method of teaching using the iPad as the key tool fosters precisely the kind of critical thinking skills and desire to grow and learn at the college level.
