Soaring Into Success With Attendance!
Funded Mar 10, 2020Words can't express my gratitude towards the generosity of our donors towards this project! Thank you for your contribution, which has helped our school provide incentives for student attendance to promote positive and healthy habits.
Everyone knows that we shouldn't have to be rewarded for doing something we are supposed to do, but it is definitely nice to be recognized. Recognition also helps boost the desire and intrinsic motivation to do the best we can and being able to build this concept up in elementary students can prove to have lasting effects!”

Small Groups to Support Mental Health
Funded Oct 27, 2024Our juniors girls group is up and running thanks to your contributions! We have been able to sustain our students attention during group by providing snacks received. We have been able to keep students engaged through the activities we have been able to use through the curriculum we have received as well!
Our students were excited to receive the sensory strips which is always necessary and important not only to keep them grounded in group as we discuss sensitive topics, but to also use throughout the school day when they need a self-soothing technique. They also enjoyed the games we were able to play with the buzzer system!
We plan to replicate this girls group with all over grade levels in our building (freshman, sophomore, and senior girls) throughout the rest of the school year, and utilize these materials for years to come.
Thank you again for your donation and generosity!”

Color My Counseling Program!
Funded Dec 21, 2017It is with much appreciation that I write this letter. The materials from this project have already made a major impact on my counseling program. Technology, either directly or indirectly, helps students learn because it is something that already interests them. Anything that is well presented and put together catches anyone's eye more than something that is bland and does not. Students of all ages (even adults) love things in color, and that is no different for the students I service and work with. I have been able to create colorful bulletin boards that provide students with visuals of how to cope when something makes them angry or upset, therefore students are learning coping skills through visuals that serve as reminders of our direct conversations. I have been able create and print out materials that I have laminated for repeated use during classroom guidance lessons as well. Most recently students were able to learn about bullying and its effects through the materials I was able to print in color and laminate. I have also been able to scan many documents that is important to send to other schools for students who have transferred. When working with students individually I have been able to use materials printed in color to teach students about managing emotions, and how to think before speaking. I have also used printed materials for small group interventions on managing anger. I have also had students help me in creating some visuals and it has tapped into their creative outlets. The fact that students can see things in color and it appeals to them is most exciting. Thank you again for coloring my counseling program!”

Counseling for College and Beyond!
Funded Jun 14, 2017Thanks to you, one way my students and I are using our using some of our new resources is for a college and career bulletin board. My students were in awe after the board was complete. They said "wow, Ms. Simon that looks great!" I asked students what they thought as they passed the board and seen all of the college pennants. They said "it makes me think about going to college and where I would like to go to." That makes me feel proud as a counselor because that was part of the goal of this project, to get students to envision themselves in a higher education setting. Some of the motivational posters are on the same board to serve as positive reminders that one individual can achieve greatness as long as they are willing to try.
The flags are hung in various locations of the building, one being near an area where all students pass throughout the week. Some of the intermediate students were excited to see the flags once they were hung because they were looking for specific countries and would talk about it when they seen it. The visual helps them embrace different nationalities and accept others knowing that we all come from different places but can still get along and work together. This is important, now more than ever to keep the acceptance of others at the forefront of how we interact on a daily basis.
Students will be participating in a Hispanic Heritage assembly this month and there are future events planned to shine a light on the different cultures represented in the flags.
Students will also be participating in doing research on colleges and careers each month and contribute posting information they have learned on the college and career bulletin board. These projects will be happening throughout the school year and for years to come. I love the board and wouldn't have been able to see the vision come to life without your help so thank you very much!!!”

Ms. Simon
