  • What Shade of Green Can You Be?

    Funded Oct 11, 2010

Words can not describe the reactions of my students when they see what they are able to accomplish with just a little bit of guidance. The biofuels lab was such a great success that we are going to follow up with a field trip to a bio-diesel plant in our neighboring town.

Working with the power house has given my students a chance to see how alternative sources of energy can be used. They have the knowledge now, they just need to be able to convince others of how to save our future from running on old technology and bring in the new.

Thank you for allowing my students to see that we have an opportunity to make a difference in our lives to change for a greener future.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kiehl

  • Rocky Start

    Funded Oct 20, 2009

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and all the lives you have touched by helping my students to better understand science. The more hands on my students perform the more they remember about their experience.

They had a wonderful time working through the lessons and understanding how rocks and minerals are used in our everyday life. We used the Internet and I brought household things into the classroom for the students to see first hand. The fossils allowed the students to imagine what things looked like in the past and match them up with some of our today animals.

My students are now asking more questions than I can handle and I'm loving every minute. This is why I love to teach because of people like you who make it possible for my students to think outside the box and ask questions of why or what about science. Thank you again from all of us.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kiehl

Going green can be costly to your home. Teaching my students how to become greener with their own homes will show their parents they are trying to do their part by learning. We are a high-need community, but I like to think of our students as having green thumbs for knowledge. Our student population is small, so our funds are limited to our needs of our students. In order to grow from a seedling into a tall tree of greatness, we need a little bit of hands-on sunshine, with a touch of classroom watering, and a whole world of loving. Teaching science to my sixth grade students allows me to bring the other parts of our world to the classroom.
