Funded Aug 9, 2021Thank you so much for donating to our project "For the Love of Gardening". As we started this project, the students were excited to see the kinds of seeds we would be planting and growing. Not only did we purchase seeds, but the students are also bringing in seeds from home that they want to grow for their home gardens. Some are bringing in enough to share with classmates.
We started out researching five different types of seeds, learning about how to plant, germination time, and also what it takes to keep these plants thriving as they grow. As the students are learning about what they want to plant, they are interested in planting for their other teachers to share their love of gardening.
We will continue growing plants for the students to take home at the end of the school year and hopefully, they will reap the harvest over the summer months from the fruits, vegetables, and flowers they have grown. Again thank you for your donation.”

Funded Oct 4, 2021Thank you so much for your donations for the DIY Air Quality in the Classroom project. When the students opened up the boxes of supplies, they were surprised by the size of the filters. Secondly, they were excited to learn how to use the new equipment.
My students have been taking air quality readings in other classrooms in our building. They have been comparing the numbers for small and large particles in each area and going through the scientific process to try to determine why readings in each class are different. Some of the things that were discovered by students were that Lysol particles are picked up on the air quality device. They decided that not just the size of particles are important but the kind of particle is important also.
We built three air quality boxes and have shared the extra with two other classrooms. These students are getting a first-hand experience with how germs and viruses travel and how we can do something about it.
Again, thank you for supporting our projects!!!!”

Funded Nov 18, 2020Thank you so much for your donations. This year has been a very unusual year. As each student leaves and a new student enters my classroom, we have to clean all surfaces that the students will be using. This is a very burdensome task. With the new equipment such as the disinfection lamp and hand wand, we can clean the classroom in addition to wiping the surfaces with disinfectant.
When the students leave at the end of the day, and I am shutting down my classroom and packing up to leave for the day, I set the disinfection lamp to one side of the room to use for that night. All I have to do is turn the lamp on and get out of the room in 30 seconds. When I have a break between classes, I can use the hand wand and clean surfaces with the handheld device.
The only thing I wish I had done is realized that I needed two disinfection lamps to use for such a large area. If I had done that, I would not have to switch sides of the room every other day to clean the whole area in one timeframe. Other than that, this equipment has become a natural routine in the cleaning process and helped my students realize how much we take for granted in the science world.
Again, Thank you for your donations!!!”

Funded Feb 9, 2010I would like to thank you for your donations to my classroom project. The DNA Necklace kits were such a great hands-on project for my students. The students were able to extract their own DNA, collect and save to a necklace that they kept. Some say they are keeping it "forever." All students were able to relate to the project at some level.
Since the recent economic situations within our community and the nation, it is very important to use all resources wisely. We hope to continue to use Donorschoose.org for future projects to stimulate our students educationally and in exciting ways.
Again, thank you for your support and generosity. ”
