Our students cannot learn if they are not well fed, both at home and at school. In school, all of our students receive free (and healthy) breakfast and lunch, but they often do not receive a complete and well-balanced dinner at night. They also don't always get the food they need on weekends. Our school's food pantry is designed specifically to address the fact that many of our kids do not always get the complete meals they deserve. This year, we've expanded our pantry to make sure that each of our 800 students (and their families) get the food that they need. As we expand, we are in need of a deep freezer to hold frozen food (chicken, turkey, soups) as they arrive. We also are in need of additional cleaning supplies to make sure that the entire area of the pantry is sanitary at all times. Finally, we would like to have plastic bins and locks to store additional non-perishable food items such as rice, pasta, cereal, beans, and more. Data suggests that students are much more successful academically if they go home to well-stocked kitchens and eat three balanced meals each day. With your support, we'll be able to make sure that all of our students and families are as healthy and well-fed as possible. Thank you for helping to support our school food pantry this school year.
