Use, Print, Store, A Fun Way To Work
Funded Feb 20, 2018Thank you so much for you generous donations. Now my students can add pictures of their projects and display them in a professional way. It is amazing when you see kids get excited with simple things that make learning fun. Before they could print, they only had their plain assignment. Now they add pictures of the projects and themselves doing the project. Also, they are sitting on their comfy seats and when they are finished they can store their work and materials. Thank you so much for your helping teachers like myself to make the process financially easy. May God bless you!!!!!!”

Funded Mar 16, 2018My students were beyond themselves when they saw the sacks. They feel more independent knowing that their stuff will be finally secured and organized in the sacks. Now they can lighten the load in their desks. When they first saw the sacks and I explained what they would be used for, the students immediately started cleaning and separating things in their desks. Now I would not hear any complaints about other students using their stuff and time wouldn't be wasted trying to find misplaced things in the desk. Thank you so much for helping my students keep their stuff safe and organized.”

Funded Feb 11, 2018Thank you so much for your donation. When I told my kids that the boxes came in, wow, their faces lit up and they were ready to open them and start building. They were thrilled seeing the little pieces of blocks and when they looked at the pictures of things they could make I think they were amazed. I let them know that finishing their class assignments come first and then they can start the building. Everyone is very eager to get their work done so they can start using the K'nex. I use the K'nex in center time activities and during recess. Groups challenge each other to see who has the fastest speed in completing a project. I want them to be creative, so i will challenge them to come up with their own project to build using the K'nex. Thanks so much again for bringing joy to my kids.”

Funded Dec 21, 2017Thank you so much for your donations. My students were very excited when they saw the ipads and were ready to use them. Your thoughtfulness has helped me to help my students explore and enjoy science because they have the resources to do so. They were able to research things and complete their regular computer activities without having to share computers.
Some of my students have never seen or used and ipad and it was a thrill for them. Their eyes lit up as they touched the screen. Now they rush through their class work so they can get on the ipads.
Thanks again for making my students happy. They are very happy working on their ipads and are doing better on their work because of it. When they are happy, I am happy”

This classroom project was brought to life by The PwC Charitable Foundation and one other donor.Headphones For Independent Participation
Funded Jan 17, 2018My students and I thank you so much for your donations. The headphones really helped my students focused more on their computer lessons without the surrounding distractions. Usually when they are on the computer they tend to wander around and not stay focused on the lesson, but having the headphones helped to solve this problems.
Now all my students can work quietly and independently on their computer lessons. When we first received the box of headphones the students jumped for joy as they took them out of the box. They were even excited with the blue color. I was able to label them so each student could have control of one.
It really is helpful having the headphones because usually the students have to travel with their personal headphone they use at home. Now that we have a class set they would not have to worry about bringing theirs from home. Those who never had one will not have to worry either because our class is ready to go. So thank you again for helping my students.”

Funded Jan 20, 2018My students were ecstatic when the box of computers arrived to my classroom. Since it's always a surprise when I receive a box for the students to open, they always try to guess what's inside. I was laughing when I heard them guessing different items and debating with each other as to what it should be. As soon as they opened the box and saw the I-pads I heard a little girl tearfully say "Wow I have always wanted to touch one of these. Finally, I know what it feels like and it is so nice." It broke my heart, but it felt good. Their joy and expressions are a treasure to me. So I thank all my donors for really putting a smile on my students' faces and a joy in their hearts. THANK YOU!!!!”

Funded Dec 14, 2017My students were thrilled with all the fun things we received. They tore opened the boxes and wanted to use the items right away. When they finally got the chance to use it they loved solving the problems using the power pens and the cards and thought it was a lot of fun.
The same was said for the Math book series. It is a really a fun and motivating way to introduce math lessons. The books are easy to follow and they helped the kids understand the lessons better. They also enjoyed the Magic School bus lab series. They already enjoy doing science, but the lab series was an added joy with all the fun activities. It is such a pleasure to see my students' reaction to learning improve because they have resources that are different from the regular textbook. Thank you so much for making this happen. My students and I really appreciate this.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Overdeck Family Foundation and Simons Foundation and 8 other donors. From Science to STEM: More Hands, More Fun
Funded Oct 19, 2017I have set up my classroom with stations so my students can rotate through activities. Since the STEM bundle comes with different activities and kits it made sense to have each activity placed at a station. The students are working on one activity at a time and rotate until each gets a chance to complete all the activities. When my kids were working on one of the reproducibles it was fun watching them as they collaborated to solve the challenge.
My students were so excited when the packages arrived to class. They wanted to open the boxes right away. I had to insist that they complete their class assignment first and open the packages later. When it was time to do so they started tearing opening the boxes and screaming with excitement. They went from one box to the next shouting until all the boxes were opened.
The next step for my students on the current project is for them to share and discuss their project to the rest of the class. They had worked in small groups so it would be interesting to watch them give suggestions and critique their peer's work. Finally, they can write about their experience working on the project and reflect on the things that worked and didn't. It was fun seeing my students work as a team and try to solve problems when they existed throughout the project. I enjoyed the fact that their motivation increased and they worked well with each other, two things that were lacking in the regular lessons. Thanks to STEM and donors like you!!!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose.org Community and 4 other donors.Students Today, Leaders Tomorrow
Funded Feb 28, 2017It is so delightful to know that there is really still a "village" that helps to raise our kids and be part of their teaching and learning. Thanks to all the donors for being part of this process. My students and I really do appreciate your help and I couldn't do it by myself. By learning about the different things that make a community they were able to see the importance each part played in it. The students' eyes lit up when they found out about so many different careers and facilities that can be found in a community. They learned about the different careers and all the components that lead to pursuing each. With the use of their headphones they quietly researched their individual chosen career and things related to working in that field. They wrote their findings in their journals, printed pictures to add to their written presentations and finally shared results with their classmates. With their doll cutout, they each made a dressed-up doll of their career person and wrote about the responsibilities of that job, where that person would work and what schooling was needed for the job. Next, they created the buildings, cutting pieces of the foam-board and poster-boards and added the landscapes and scenic items to make the community come alive. They printed out pictures to put in their research reports, then glued, painted and placed items on the floor layout, and finally shared and discussed all that they learned. I could already see artists, landscapers, and future architects evolving from these students as they excitedly planned and built their community. They were so engrossed as they worked, that if someone entered the room they weren't distracted but kept working diligently.
When my students first saw the materials they were very excited. They rushed over to the boxes and with anxious eyes looked closely as I passed boxes to be opened. From the first time I mentioned we were doing a project to build a community and we would be getting items in the mail to use, they kept asking when would they get here. So when the boxes arrived they dashed out of their seats trying to be the first to get to the boxes. They were ready to start right away but I had to let them know that we had to finish our regular classwork first and would start the project the following day. They even wanted to volunteer their PE time just to get an early start of the project. I still insisted that it will be starting the following day. I just heard a loud sigh of disappointment. Soon after they started opening and chatting about the contents as their curiosity aroused. They got a thrill seeing the model trees and people and were ready to create and paint their buildings and items for the project.
The next step for my students is to look up different communities and compare the things they have in each so as to help them advance and develop a better, modern community to cater for today's society. Also, I am hoping that since they learned about other careers, they would now really think of their career choice and decide on what they really want to be in the future and work towards it.”
