  • I Do, You Do!

    Funded Jan 27, 2025

I thank you for your generous donation toward the purchase of a document camera for my first-grade classroom. Your support has made an incredible difference in the way we teach and learn, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to use this new technology with my students.

Since we received the document camera, it has become an essential tool in our classroom. I am able to model lessons and demonstrate writing and grammar, handwriting, and reading exercises directly and easily to the class. The document camera has been incredibly helpful in fostering a more interactive and engaging learning environment for my students. It allows me to model lessons clearly, which is especially important for my first graders who are still developing foundational skills. By projecting their work and examples on the board, students are able to follow along easily and participate more actively in our lessons.

The most exciting aspect for my students is the ability to see their own work projected for everyone to admire. This boosts their confidence and fosters a sense of pride in what they have accomplished. They are especially excited to see their drawings and writing on display for the whole class. It creates a sense of achievement and encourages them to take more ownership of their learning.

I've also noticed that some students, particularly those who are more visual learners, have really embraced the new technology. There are some shy students who previously prefered not to show their work but are now enthusiasiastic about using the document camera to share their work and explain their thinking to the class. It's been wonderful to see how this has increased their participation and confidence in speaking up. The document camera has not only provided a platform for these students to shine, but it has also helped all my students engage in collaborative learning by giving them a clear visual model to reference.

The technology has also enabled me to highlight the positive things my students are learning in class. This real-time acknowledgment of their efforts has made them more motivated to continue striving for success.

Once again, thank you so much for your generous donation. The document camera has truly enriched our classroom, and it has been such a joy to watch my students engage with this new tool in such an exciting and positive way.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lopez

  • Let's Get Moving!

    Funded Jan 16, 2025

I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for your generous donation of physical education equipment for my first-grade class. Your thoughtful contribution has had a tremendous impact on our classroom, and I am so grateful for your support.

Thanks to your donation, my students now have the opportunity to practice team-building activities, work on their coordination, and develop essential motor skills. With the addition of balls, skip balls and hula hoops, they've been able to engage in fun and active lessons that not only improve their physical abilities but also encourage cooperation, communication, and teamwork. The joy on their faces when they helped me open the packages of materials and when they work together on a game is priceless, and it's all because of your kindness.

As an educator, it is incredibly rewarding to see the progress my students make throughout the school year The academic aspect is very important but the skills they practice playing transfer into the classroom and are just as important! Your support has truly enriched their learning experience, and I can't thank you enough for helping to create such a positive and engaging environment for my students.

Once again, thank you for your generosity. Your contribution is making a lasting difference in the lives of my students and in their development.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lopez

  • Bringing Color to Our Class

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

I would like to thank you for your generous donation to our classroom. The color printer has come in so handy. I have been able to print out so many things in color from certificates for the students to word cards and activities that students can use to practice skills in the classroom.

Aside from the aesthetic appeal of having something in color, (yes, it looks pretty) being able to print certain things in color can be very helpful to the students in the class.

My students work with a program called iReady. This program provides data about the students performance, where they are academically and the goal they should try to reach. The data is presented in a report which I share with the students but when printing it in black and white it is hard to understand. Printing it in color helps the students easily see where they started, the progress they have made and what goal they are striving to reach.

The joyful smiles in my students faces when they receive a certificate for doing well in class makes me so happy - a color certificate is so fancy and they are proud when it is displayed in class.

I have been able to create and print color cards of activities for the students to practice reading skills and because they are in color the students love that they feel like game pieces of a board game. This gets them excited about "playing" with something that in reality is helping them learn.

I truly appreciate your help in getting this color printer to use with my class. The best thing is that I will be able to continue using it with this group of students and with many more kids in the years to come. You have made a big difference. Thank you!!!!”

  • Can You Hear Me Now?

    Funded Sep 12, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation of headphones to my classroom.

My first grade students are just starting to use our school computers in the computer lab and laptops in our classroom but many of them do not have headphones. Imagine a class full of eager learners all working at the same time on their computers but not being able to hear well what the program is saying because of all the noise! Well, that is a problem no longer thanks to you!

I now have enough headphones for every student in my class so that they can concentrate and hear what the interactive program says to them as they work on the computers.

These computer programs are very helpful to students since they are practicing reading and math skills in an engaging manner. We are very lucky to have access to computers at school. However, without the headphones I see the children get so distracted, cannot understand what information is given to them and just do not get the full benefit from this learning tool. Also, since some students do have their own headphones, the students who do not have a pair feel left out and ask me why they can't have headphones. These are often students whose families are not able to send in the necessary materials and supplies needed for school.

Please know that your donation not only helps the students with their academics but also emotionally. You have made a difference and my students and I thank you!!!”

  • Exercise and Fun!

    Funded Dec 8, 2019

My students love to go outside to play, exercise and get fresh air. For years, our playground had been closed for repairs and the children were able to play in a grassy area outside of our classroom but with no equipment to play with.

The cart, hula hoops, jump ropes and skip balls you donated have been a class favorite. We can roll out the cart each day (I always have eager volunteers who want to be in charge of pushing the cart) and play so many games with the equipment. Not only can the students use the items to jump, hula as intended, we use them to also play other games like making an obstacle course they must cross, a sort of musical chair games with the hula hoops and other creative games students also invent.

I share the materials with the students in the other first grade class and all the children are very responsible taking care of the equipment and returning it to the cart at the end of recess/physical education. Your donation has made and continues to make an impact each year that we continue to use the materials. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

  • Write Pop and Read!

    Funded Nov 19, 2021

I want to take a moment not only to thank you for your generosity, but also to share with you how much your donation has helped the students in my classroom.

One of the items I requested and thanks to you was able to get for the classroom, was a set of "pop its". As you may know, these are very popular toys at the moment and when my students saw me taking out a box full of pop its, their eyes looked as if they were going to pop and huge grins appeared across their faces.

The students have been able to use the pop its for many fun, learning activities such as sounding out words (essential for beginning readers), practicing math addition and subtraction facts, skip counting, finding odd and even numbers, practicing the alphabet and finding consonants and vowels to name a few. Each activity has had great value and been most helpful to the students.

Something that we use on a daily basis in the classroom are the white dry-erasable boards and markers that you also donated. As you may see in the pictures, we practice new sounds, learning new words and even handwriting on these boards. The students love having their own board, just like the teacher and when I told them some wonderful strangers had donated all these items to our class they were in awe and many said "tell them I say thank you!!"

Please know I am extremely grateful to have these supplies and so happy you chose my class. You truly have made an impact.”

  • Wiggle and Learn!

    Funded Mar 16, 2020

Teaching since last March has been incredibly challenging. From one day to the next I went from teaching in my classroom to teaching virtually and connecting with students online. I surely hoped that by the beginning of this school year, I would be back in my class with my new group of students but sadly I am still teaching online. It is great that I still get to teach and help students learn but a bit disappointing to be close yet so far away from

    my little ones.

With a bit of a heavy heart I returned to my classroom, my empty classroom. There i found a big box waiting for me! In it, the wiggle seats and bands you have so graciously donated to my class. I was so happy! I felt like a kid on Christmas morning and although my students are still not present in class to use the materials I can't wait to see them using them.

I think this school year since the kids have been away from the school house setting for so long, they will especially benefit from the wiggle seats. These seats allow the students to balance and move while on their desk chairs. This will not cause a distraction and give students the opportunity to move around. The chair bands will be placed on the legs of the chairs and students can place their feet on them and move! Since I have been sitting for many hours now teaching in front of the computer I know how important it is to move around. Again, these bands will provide students with the opportunity to move without cause a distraction to themselves or others.

I am so thankful you have provided these for my class and I can tell you how excited I will be when my students can come to the classroom and use them.

I have shared some pictures of me holding my goodies when they arrived and my classroom, although empty at this time so you can imagine and see where your generous gift will be used. Thank you once again for making this teacher very happy and for helping my students too!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lopez
