Having 4 iPads in my Math 1 classes of 40 students will allow my students to study and have a visual on functions and their graphs which will help students to observe the functional behavior(s) and their differences in comparison to the parent function and capture the effect of transformations on parent function(s).
For this project, students will be asked to work in small groups of 4 students per 1 iPad per group to collaborate and discuss their findings and behavior of different families of graphs. Having technology available in my classroom will allow me to create lesson plans that will motivate my most struggling students but also intrigue and keep my highest performing students interested in the lesson.
21 Century skills (Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication) require integration of technology in our classrooms, especially in a math classroom. But unfortunately, there is always a shortage of funding in public schools/districts and classroom supplies or technology is never a priority. This project will help me to meet the needs of my students, enhance their learning and understanding by using visual representation of the content, and also integrate technology into my classroom.
