Funded Sep 29, 2022Our new classroom rug has produced a comfortable place for us, teachers, and young students to expand their learning space onto the floor.
It promotes positive behavior, creates a warm and friendly environment, and gives kids an easy-to-understand place to go when they gather in a circle.
When sitting in several curved rows on the rug right in front of me, my students are close enough to note details in illustrations or photos, actively respond to questions, and chime in with reading a book or poem.
When sitting in a horseshoe pattern, we are using the interior area of the rug to spread out materials such as math manipulatives, science models, or historical artifacts. Sitting in a circle also creates a sense of community and increases my students' interest in listening and sharing their ideas.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ninua
