Calculators are needed to give struggling, otherwise motivated, high school students a chance to succeed in their education and lives. There are problems in assignments, on end-of-course state exams, the ACT and SAT that require the use of a calculator (for most students). It is mandatory that someone give them this chance. Try answering these questions without the use of a calculator. Describe the asymptotes and points of discontinuity of f(x) = (x^2 + 4x + 5)/(x+5). A survey of 2850 students found that 9% are left-handed. Find the margin of error for the sample and use that to find an interval that is likely to contain the true population proportion.
