  • Really Cool Art Supplies!

  • Creating Art at Home

    Funded May 7, 2020

    Your donation has given my students the ability to draw, paint and create at home. The photos I shared are just a small picture of the hundreds of pieces of artwork that were created due to your generosity.

    Each student was able to receive crayons, markers, water color paint, oil pastels, paper and colored pencils! I cannot describe the joy the students expressed when we had distribution days. You would have thought we gave them a million dollars!

    Each week while teaching virtually, I thank you for your gift. Every time a student shares their artwork with me, it warms my heart.

    I have created 4 virtual galleries with artwork created by the materials from this project and the response from the greater school community has been tremendous. Thank you again and Happy Holidays!”

  • Creativity and Critical Thinking Through Art

    My students have learned so much thanks to your generous donations! Students have been able to use their chrome books to research art and artists. Because I chose to share the chrome books with the music teacher they have used the chrome books to learn to play both keyboard and guitar!

    I will be looking into drawing/painting programs to add to my curriculum this year this may help students that struggle with facing a blank page.

    Due to the fact that my class sizes have grown so much (up to 32), I will be writing another grant and hopefully you will continue to support our important work.”

Students will use Chromebooks to research art and artists, create computer generated art, create research-based slide shows both individually and in pairs or groups, as well as, take assessments and critique their work as well as the work of others. Many of my students do not have access to technology and this project will give them access to the 21st Century skills that will foster their creativity, ability to work in groups and cultivate their ability to think abstractly. Because art problems do not have concrete answers students will have the ability to see how others have solved similar visual problems, assess their strategies and formulate their own. This critical thinking is imperative to success in all areas of education and social-emotional learning.

About my class
