iLearn: Capturing Moments, Crafting Knowledge
Funded Aug 9, 2024Thank you so much for the generous gift of the iPad! It will be an invaluable tool for our reading intervention program. We're excited to use it to enhance our students' learning experiences and help them reach their goals. Your support makes a real difference!
Currently we're using the iPad in group to monitor students reading skills. The accessibility and mobility are great since I do not have a classroom. I'm able to record student fluency, share instant data, and more. The kids are also able to see a mini-lesson on it and show-what-they-know through our digital portfolios in Seesaw. Thank you so much!”

Funded Sep 1, 2023Thank you so much for the donations to our 2nd grade! Soft Start is a BIG part of our day every morning. It takes the stress away of arriving at the bell and lets kids ease into the day. Our 2nd graders love our soft start and all of your donations help our students' imaginations come to life.
We're truly grateful for our Soft Start donations, especially the creativity books that each student received. The students also love the Tinker Toys to build and create. We're even using the Playdoh donations as we explore social emotional learning and we're creating Playdoh characters from our books. Laslty, who doesn't love Legos!?! Our students are using the Lego Creator Sets to build and create animals for our science unit on life and adaptations.
Thank you from the bottom of our HEARTS!”

Funded Jan 2, 2023Thank you so much for our creativity books! We truly love how these help us settle in to our soft start. The kids loved unboxing these and loved giving their book a fun title.
Because of your generosity, our students have a fun creative tool that's taps into each artist, reader, writer and more. We love sharing our creations with our peers and fellow teachers. Jarrett Lerner's read aloud books are amazing and this activity book is truly the best!
Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are truly grateful for your donation to our class.”

The Power of Wordless Picture Books
Funded Apr 24, 2022Thank you, thank you, thank you for your donation! Your grant donations have provided an easy entry for readers to be the authors and illustrators of their very own stories. So many times we, as adults, forget just how vital pictures are to a story.
Wordless picture books have helped our readers in so many ways. Our students, K-5, are using them to create stories with their imagination, using the books to promote comprehension, created a new avenue to explore new vocabulary, improved listening skills and created an understanding of story structure and character development.
Again, thank you so much for your generous donation to our students, teachers and school!”

Funded Jan 30, 2022Thank you SO much for your generous donation to our class. Wow, where do we begin? Your donation of graphic novels help support an entire school. It was super helpful for our reading intervention students, who don't always love reading and/or have access to materials that are best for them at their grade levels. For example, 5th graders reading 'Anne of Green Gables' in a regular chapter book may struggle to read it if they're below grade level; however, the graphic novel version gives all students access to the text with fewer words and pictures for understand and comprehension.
These books have also introduced our learners to a new style of writing. Back in the day, we could pick up a paper and read the comics. Students love graphic novels much like comics. They are also inspired by them to write their own comics and graphic novels. Again, thank you for your support. These materials will continue to reach students K-5 and will be loved for years!”

Graphic Novel Adventures!
Funded Aug 13, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations to our reading students! 76+ student have access to amazing new books because of you and your generosity.
Did you know graphic novels average 53.5 rare words per thousand? Children books only average 30.9 words per thousand. The novels in our grant have give our students a boost in reading! Inferencing skills are soaring with the visual images and support an increased comprehension. Most importantly, my kids, who struggle to read, are seeing themselves as readers. They are LOVING to read!
Your donations ARE making a big difference! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Funded Sep 23, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation to our students. Our students love finding stories that positively reflect their own stories and love seeing themselves in the pages of books they read. Funded Aug 27, 2019Thank you so much for our amazing resources! Our 2nd grade students love the hands-on materials to create. We love using play-based learning to jump into the LAUNCH Cycle and Design Thinking. One of our favorite adventures was creating a model treehouse design with Legos, magnetic blocks, and K'Nex. Now we are using our mini-models to create a class treehouse model with recycled materials.
Another project we loved was creating animal adaptations with K'Nex. Students researched animals and built them using the K'Nex. Then they used iPads and their digital portfolios to take a snapshot of their work, label it, and record their learning.
These materials have fostered creativity and original thinking while providing students positive social and emotional skills. Thank you so much for supporting us in life-long skills for that will last a lifetime.”
