This project will significantly help my students in the area of life science to better their understanding of food chains and food webs. The students will get an hands on opportunity to discover how animals digest their prey. As well as, gain an understanding of why territorial animal seek rodents and other species to survive. This will also allow students to look at the structures and functions of the species being digest. However, most importantly it will show the students the habitat in which these owls live. The students will explore and demonstrate the functions of owl pellets and how animals get their energy from other organisms. The project will also be very significant in learning how animals/insects behave. The students will observe how insects prefer light over dark areas in their environment. The students will place a dark sheet of paper over 1/2 of the chamber allowing the meal worms to choose dark over light areas. Afterwards the students will collect the data and generate a graph to chart their findings.
