I plan to use this book I Am Malala, as a read aloud to promote literacy and understanding for non-fiction. I would like my students to understand though we struggle, we can achieve and believe in dreams that things will get better, and education and tolerance for others is a must in this world. Students will be able to realize that they are fortunate even though at times we face adversity. My students will also be able to gain an insight into the hardships of other students who exist in other countries. I want to be able to build a classroom where students can get a world view and exposure to cultures, backgrounds and systems that exist. Living in a homeless shelter does not define a student, some students live in countries plagued by wars and struggle just for their basic needs; my students must be able to realize that with hope and a dream, all things are possible and achievable.
