Classroom Decor Created by the Students, for the Students.
Funded Jul 18, 2022I am so grateful for the donations made to my classroom to help fund my "Classroom Decor" project. I firmly believe that students are more invested in their learning when they feel that their classroom is warm, inviting, and representative of each learner. This year I am specializing as the math teacher for multiple periods so many of my bulletin boards reflect this subject, along with learning about Growth Mindsets and positive behaviors. Each time I change the bulletin boards to reflect a specific focus I am able to have my students help with the design that goes up, as well as the materials we use, thanks to your donations.
We are all learning to use the Cricut machine and the additional supplies making our classroom interactive and exciting. This is a new form of technology that many of my students are not familiar with. Using the Cricut, I am able to personalize items for myself and my students, which they love. The room is brighter and they truly feel like they are a part of the design process.
As we move on and learn more about ways to use this special machine in our classroom, students will begin to create projects on their own and use the Cricut for themselves. I can't wait to see all the ways students will use it as the year progresses!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Oliver
Remarkable Resources for ALL Learners
Funded Oct 25, 2021Thank you so much for helping to fund this project. I hope that this gives many students the opportunity to connect with our curriculum throughout the year. Now, more than ever, students need the opportunities to succeed in a variety of ways. These resources will help make that happen! Thank you again for helping to make this possible. Make sure to be on the look out for pictures of my students using the materials in action.”

Mrs. Oliver
On the Move
Funded Oct 26, 2016My students and I cannot thank you enough for your generosity! As you know, I've brought in a variety of classroom seating options and I have to say the wobble chairs are certainly one of their favorites. Although there are seats at every desk the students are able to move the seating around throughout the day so that they can find a productive work environment that works for them. The wobble chairs are lightweight and easy to move around, which makes the movement throughout the day an easy transition.
When I first brought the chairs into the classroom the children were, of course, excited for another new option for seating. They had their fun on the chairs by spinning around on them but after a few days, when the novelty wore off, they began to sit respectfully and purposefully. They are able to wiggle and move from side to side while working, without distracting the other children sitting near them. The chairs are a perfect height if they want to pull up to a desk or grab a clipboard/lapdesk and work in an open space.
As a follow-up to this amazing act of generosity I plan on teaching students about organizations like Donors Choose to show them how acts of kindness can help those we may not even know. During this holiday season it is so important to teach children how acts of kindness, no matter how big or small, can make a difference in the world. In addition, I plan on having the students write letters to members of our local district and government about the benefits of flexible seating and opening up grants for teachers to start implementing it in their classrooms.”
