My students will work in pairs to learn various rhythm patterns associated with bucket drumming. They will learn to read rhythms and work together as a larger group to play complete rhythmic pieces of music. Playing an instrument enhances an individual brain's activity and forever changes it! By drumming, our students will be using math (counting beats), reading (rhythms), and working individually and cooperatively with their peers. When the body and brain is wholly and actively involved, the best learning occurs! Through the drumming process, we hope students will learn that playing music is not as complicated as some believe. This will instill a hunger to play even more instruments in the future.
