  • A Carpet to Learn and Share

    Funded Sep 23, 2018

Room 103 thanks you for your generous donations towards our classroom carpet. Each child has a space of their own to listen to stories, learn new things and be interactive with one another. If you were to stroll through my room during independent learning times, you could find many children laying on the rug exploring a favorite book with a friend. During center time, you would find students working together at the rug to make plans and build a complex structure from blocks. During writing, you could find them with clipboards and pencils jotting down their ideas comfortably on the carpet.

When the carpet arrived, the children were at specials and they were OVERJOYED when they returned from art to see their beautiful rug. They screamed thank you to me over and over again but I assured them it was YOUR generosity that provided this amazing gift.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You made 24 little ones happy, as well as their teacher. :)”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lanier

  • Eager For Easels!

    Funded Oct 13, 2016

Thank you for your generous donations that contributed to my class receiving easels! With the opportunity to paint daily, my students are able to tap into their creativity, access all areas of the curriculum in new ways and channel the inspiration from illustrators we are studying.

Their ability to express themselves has vastly improved and their confidence has grown tremendously. They take care of the easels and show responsibility for their classroom and express great appreciation for the gift you have given them!

Thank you so much, from Room 103 at the Murkland School in Lowell.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lanier

My students would benefit from having painting easels in our classroom for a variety of reasons. Painting provides serenity and comfort. It ignites imagination and fosters growth in all curriculum areas including written and oral language. Painting with storytelling provides young learners with a strong sense of pride and accomplishment for their unique expressions. Putting language barriers aside, I long for my students to be able to pick up a paint brush and be able to tell me something through art and for them to feel good about that. I want my students to know that they can take ownership in their learning artistically.
