Supporting Health and Comfort for High School Success
Funded Dec 9, 2024I am overflowing with gratitude as I write to thank you for your incredible generosity in fully funding my DonorsChoose project, "Essential Health and Hygiene Supplies." Your contributions have transformed my classroom into a haven of support and care for my high school students. It is truly heartwarming to know that so many individuals believe in the importance of providing students with the basic necessities they need to thrive.
As a teacher, I've observed firsthand how even small, unexpected needs can derail a student's focus and create unnecessary stress. The simple act of providing tissues, bandaids, masks, and period products has already made a profound difference. My students now approach their day with greater confidence and dignity, knowing that their needs are met within the classroom. This is especially meaningful for students from under-resourced communities who often face challenges beyond their control.
Your support has not only provided physical supplies but also fostered a sense of belonging and inclusivity. The impact of your generosity extends far beyond material items; you've given my students the message that they are valued and cared for. By removing these small but significant barriers to learning, you've empowered them to focus on their education and reach their full potential.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a vital part of their success story. Your kindness and belief in my students will have a lasting, positive impact on their lives. I am deeply grateful for your commitment to creating a supportive and equitable learning environment.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Finman

Funded May 9, 2023Once again, your generosity's impact is boundless. I love being able to offer materials to my students without having to think about how much it cost me.
In the first week of school, I was able to swiftly help out students who weren't able to attain binders and/or composition notebooks. Any feelings of embarrassment for not bringing supplies were quickly squashed and we were able to move on with learning.
None of this is to mention the plethora of post-its, white-out, writing utensils, and so much more that you've provided us with.”

Funded Apr 29, 2022Thank you so much for investing in our classroom library! Your generous donation has allowed me to require independent reading for my students while offering a strong variety of texts to choose from. We don't have a high school library, but our growing classroom library is an increasingly reliable substitute thanks to you.
In fact, I now have so many books in our classroom library that I was able to organize them by genre for the first time ever. Whether students are craving thrillers, romance, poetry, graphic novels, or beyond, they have plenty to choose from and can find it easily.”

Funded Apr 28, 2022Your donation has made such a difference to our menstruating students! In the past, any student who couldn't afford period products would have to journey all the way down to the first-floor high school office to request a pad or tampon; now, students can just stop by our classroom "menstruation station" and grab what they need (from a variety of products) on their way to the nearest restroom.
In addition, because they used to have to spend a significant amount of time in the office if they needed a heating pad, students now appreciate the convenience of having one right in the classroom to combat pain due to cramping.”

Funded Aug 28, 2021Thank you, once again, for your contributions to our classroom library! In our first unit of study, readers were excited to have the option of extending their interest in environmental issues through these readings. Whether they wanted to challenge themselves to grapple with the Transcendentalist texts, learn more about these issues through contemporary nonfiction, or entertain themselves with a high-interest dystopian novel, you made sure they had options!
Not to mention, the display materials allowed me to create a unique area of interest for my classroom library. I intend to switch out themes for this "mini library" on a quarterly basis to draw attention to themes students show interest in.”

Funded Feb 2, 2021Thank you so much for supporting and diversifying our classroom library! Our school is remaining virtual through the end of this school year; however, your generosity inspired me to make it possible for students to access these books. I created a system for students to browse and check out books virtually so that all they need to do is safely pick up their books from the front entrance of our school.
Since we've received these new books, some of my shyest students have turned out to be my most voracious readers-- one has even felt empowered to create a list of suggestions to add to our library for next year!”

YA Male Protagonists in Our Classroom Library
Funded Jun 11, 2020Once more, thank you so much for the donation of these books! Even though school is virtual for at least the first quarter of this school year, I was able to use my webcam to show off how my classroom library had grown over the summer. Those seeking male protagonists in their reading were especially excited!
Students requested when they would be able to check out books from my room again, so I'm hoping to develop some kind of system that allows for this. We might even be able to develop "lunch bunches" during which time students can meet up and discuss what they're reading independently!
Even though students aren't yet in the classroom, your impact is felt. Thank you!!”

Funded Apr 22, 2020Once more, thank you so much for the donation of these books. Originally, they were intended to serve as book club selections for my AP English Language and Composition students. I wish I were able to provide photos of students holding the books, but due to the pandemic we are entirely virtual for the first quarter.
My hope is for students to spend this virtual time studying shorter pieces of nonfiction that relate to the content of each book. By the time students are learning in-person again, they will have had both an interest in at least one of these topics as well as some background knowledge to support whichever book they choose to study in the second semester. All thanks to you!”

Cold-Season Essentials
Funded Feb 20, 2020Thanks to you, my students will be comfortable throughout the remainder of this winter and likely through the next! I am thrilled that students know my classroom will be able to provide everything they need to get through these cold, dry months. Every time a student reaches for a tissue or a cough drop, I will remember your generosity!”
