  • Help Students With Disabilities Be Heard!

    Funded Dec 12, 2023

We did it! We created an opportunity for kids without voices to be heard. Thank you for investing into the lives of kids with disabilities who will get to use this tool DAILY during class to communicate more effectively in my classroom.

I am looking forward to reporting back when I get some time under my belt with the new device.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Kennedy

  • Ice Skates for Kids with Disabilities!

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

So sorry for the long delay in response! We have been thoroughly enjoying the ice skates. I am able to get more kiddos into skate now that we have some that are COMFORTABLE to wear and adjust to their size. I most importantly like that I can fit the skates on them in the largest setting then tighten them once on the foot. This helps us avoid getting kicked or upsetting the students.

We have used these skates for two years now and with regular sharpening they continue to be of tremendous benefit.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Kennedy

The universal goals used for teaching handball allow students to shoot into the goal from 360 degrees, and adjusts in height for kids in wheelchairs. An "All around goal" easily adjusts to any height to make the game more challenging for my older students, but also allows a student to score from any side/direction. One of my goals as an A.P.E. (P.E. for kids with disabilities) teacher is to create games for maximum inclusion of kids with a wide array of disabilities. Handball is a sport that I have taught for my kids in wheelchairs, as well as those who are mobile. Students use a soft toss ball to pass down court, and then throw the ball into a standing hula hoop to score a goal. While this goal provides a good visual aid, it is difficult to keep standing upright. This goal can also be used as a basketball hoop or bowling target!
