Give Our Classroom a Backbone
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for funding my project to get a model of the spinal column into the hands of my 5th grade students! This will really help me teach the interconnectedness of the muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our children!”
With gratitude,

Funded Jan 13, 2017The scales have made a huge impact in my classroom. 5th graders learn conservation of mass and use the scales constantly to test this principle.
Thee students feel like they are really scientists because they are using high quality equipment that actually works. They love being able to compare the weight on the triple-beam balance scales to the weight on the digital scale.
Every student in my room is able to use the scales and practice weighing items. The hands-on experience the scales provide is invaluable. They love the scales and take excellent care of them.
This is feedback from three years of classes. I can't tell you how much your generosity has impacted my classes.
Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mosier
Academic Conversations Amongst Students About Their Work
Funded Mar 27, 2018The document camera you sent our classroom has made a huge improvement in how students are able to share and explain their learning strategies with the classroom. We use the camera to project a student's work onto our SMART Board. Then the student can share and explain their work easily to the rest of the class and the class can ask questions, give suggestions, or compliments to the student about their work.
The students have had the ability to do this in their literacy and math classes but we have not had a camera in my class (science/social studies/health) up until this point, so they are very proficient with using the camera. They have jumped right in to using it and showed me a few things about how to use it, as well.
The great thing about the camera is that all students are able to use it to share their work, from students that are struggling with a subject to those that are excelling. The camera is really fostering a sense of community, and common purpose, and has increased the amount and quality of the conversations we are having about content in the classroom.”
